Your cat sees your lizard as nummy prey and it is perfectly natural. First of all, try mixing a 1/4 vinegar, 3/4 water mixture in the spray bottle. Your cat will have NO IDEA why you are beating it. That's not how feline discipline works. Also, letting your cat and lizard rumble is not wise either. You will end up with a dead lizard and possibly an injured cat. You didn't say how high up the lizard tank/cage. Your lizard will get used to the cat and your cat will become disinterested in the lizard inevitably(It will realize stalking the lizard is a lost cause). It seems like this issue bothers you more than it does the lizard. You could try lining the top of the lizard tank with chicken wire so the cat cannot jump up there(ie a barbed wire fence). It may not be aestetically pleasing but it's an option. Also, being a responsible pet owner does not mean forsaking one pet for another. Your Chinese Water Dragon will soon be big enough your cat won't seem like a threat. Or, simply, keep your bedroom door closed.

I think you are taking a VERY wrong approach to your problem. First of all, NEVER hit an animal. Second, your cat is probably not trying to eat your lizard, she's just curious. I have had a variety of pets in my home at the same time and even though they got curious about what the other animals were, they never hurt each other. Just make sure there is a secure lid on the aquarium so your cat can't get to it. And if you really feel you need to get rid of your cat, go to www.petfinder.com and you will find a lot of helpful resources under shelter list for assistance in making a good choice for a new home for her. And NEVER give an animal away for free, that usually ends up letting the animal get into the hands of someone who is nothing but trouble. And always show love and patience to all your pets.

I would close the door to keep them separated or find a way to build an enclosure around the top of your water dragon's habitat. Perhaps finding a bookcase where the cage only has maybe 3-4 inches of space above it - just small enough that our cat can't squeeze in. Or move your water dragon to a place where you can close out the cat.
Also, I saw at Petsmart last night a huge variety of products designed to keep cats away from specified areas. I would brows that section of the store and hopefully you could find a solution to your problem.
Good luck.

If I were you I wouldn't get rid of the cat, the people who say that don't know what they are talking about!!! What you have to do is punish your cat more, a little water won't even make the cat a bit learn a lesson. For starters slap the cat. If she keeps going into your room, you need more punishment. For example, you can throw her in the basement or lock her in a room for a long time and see if she learns her lesson. If that dosem't work then you can go on some websites to help the cats. Hope it works.

Your cat is just being a cat...But I know the tricks I'll list do work.
cats hate to get their feet sticky..put double sided tape in front of your door and inside, be sure you make it wide enough that the cat can't jump over it.
Or try aluminum foil in the same areas.
I've hear that dried lilaics work, cats hate the smell.
Hope this helps.

Okay.... Someone doesn't understand what a cat is. ITS A PREDATOR. IT WONT LEARN WITH A BOTTLE OF WATER. ITS INSTINCTS ARE STRONGER THAN THE MEMORY OR FEELING OF YOU SPRAYING HER.
The best solution would have to be... dun dun... to close the door. If you don't have a door then that's a pretty pitiful room.

You could try closing your frigging door Moron! Except then all the smoke might kill your stupid lizard.
Grow up...a cat is a predator, she will always try to check out the lizard. If it is in a cage, she cannot hurt it. Chill!

Either shut the door so that the cat can't get into the room, or use a fire hose, that would put a stop the you cat trying to get your lizard.
