It depends on how you define crazy. I will assume you are talking about the psychiatric condition also known as dementia and/or schizophrenia. Also, to be more exact, we would have to precise the cultural historical contexts in which we describe "crazy" or "madness" as the terms evolves throughout history and throughout cultures.
Hypothyroidism, the clinical syndrome from a deficiency in thyroid hormone as well as a psychosis have been reported as common signs in beginning stages of madness and schizophrenia.
Symptoms such as the ones described in dementia can also be a warning signs for more severe psychiatric conditions:
. Forgetfulness with effects at work:
Most people sometimes forget names or appointments. If this happens more frequently and inexplicable states of confusion also occur, this might be an indication for a decline in memory function.
2. Difficulties with familiar activities:
People who are very busy are sometimes absent-minded and for example forget the pot on the stove. People with dementia possibly not only forget the pot on the stove but also that they have cooked at all.
3. Language problems:
Most people sometimes experience difficulties in finding the right words. Dementia sufferers often cannot remember simple words and instead they use inappropriate fillers which makes it difficult to understand the sentences.
4. Problems with spatial and temporal orientation:
A lot of people sometimes forget e.g. the day of the week or they get lost in unfamiliar surroundings. Dementia sufferers might be in their own street and no longer know where they are, how they got there and how to get home again.
5. Impaired capacity of judgement:
People not always choose clothes suitable for the weather. Dementia sufferers sometimes wear totally inappropriate clothes. For example, they wear a bathrobe while shopping or several blouses on top of each other on a hot summer day.
6. Problems with abstract thinking:
For many people running a bank account is a challenge. Dementia patients can often neither recognise numbers nor carry out simple calculations.
7. Leaving things behind:
From time to time almost everybody leaves their keys or a wallet behind. Dementia sufferers however might put things in completely inappropriate places, such as for example the iron in the fridge or a watch in the sugar bowl. Afterwards they do not remember where they put them.
8. Mood swings and behavioural changes
Everybody has mood swings. People with dementia may have very sudden mood swings, often without discernible cause.
9. Personality changes:
10. Loss of initiative:
11. Hallucinations and delusions...

This question cannot really be answered because there are numerous disorders that people would consider "crazy." Talking to yourself, even answering yourself, or hearing voices are in itself no indications but combined with paranoia it might be.
But it is a well known fact that very intelligent people, the ones with an IQ of 130 or higher usually have periods in their life in which they wonder if they're going crazy. This is because such people tend to process more data simultaneously, which sometimes leads to confusion. It is also true for ADD, which is not craziness, but also a case of heightened parallel processing. And indeed, ADD and high intelligence are closely related. If you go in search on the web for these terms you'll find a number of checklists and tests that clearly indicate this tendency.

If you are questioning your sanity, then you are probably ok. It is the people who think that everything they do is perfectly fine, and are positive that they AREN'T crazy that usually have a few screws loose.
Maybe you are having some physiological symptoms (If the is with regard to yourself) which are affecting how you react to certain situations. Not to worry if that is the case, just talk to a professional and maybe they can help.

losing touch with reality, is usually a good indication...hearing voices,. obeying them,...hallucinating,....becoming paranoid..all COULD be considered 'symptoms'...and combined,...they might be the first signs..but what most people don't know, is that many people who are indeed out of their MINDS can blend in and seem completely normal, to the observer...there is an old saying, that if you think you are going crazy, you're NOT...God Bless little one

Usually none. The person slipping into that state will never realize that something is wrong.
External signs will be loss of attention span, rambling discourses, forgetfulness, inability to sleep, incoherent mutterings. But none of this is reliable. It must be diagnosed by a competent Doctor.

seriously " your alive". Every person with enough intelligence to ask that question has potential mentally deviant tendencies. What matters is how they express them and if it effects their life in a positive or negative manner. For example the obsessive compulsive who works cleaning houses . The best info comes from the mental health pros. they have question pamphlets to grade the severity of symptoms yourself.

I don't know what signs you are having but if you are talking to yourself and answering or seeing things that aren't really there then i would say you need to seek some form of help.

Obsessing to the point of being unable to function on any level . If you are the one worrying - forget about it . Anyone who lost their mind , is not aware of that fact . Think positive and dismiss negatives .
