They only fought once and Oscar lost a close majority decision which many thought he won but he faded late in the fight giving late rounds to Trinidad. Much to De La Hoya's dismay he was never given a rematch. the fight took place at 147 lbs on September 18, 1999. the judges scored it like this Judge: Jerry Roth 113-115 | Judge: Bob Logist 114-115 | Judge: Glen Hamada 114-114 ~ for Trinidad.
