I agree with the recommendations for Moet and Veuve Cliquot, which are real champagnes. (Real champagne is made in a region in France - the rest are sparkling wines, which often have added sugar.) I disagree with those that recommend the sweeter "champagnes" (sparkling wines) - unless you and he like really sweet wines, etc., in which case, go for it. Get something you are more likely to enjoy!
I prefer a nice dry Brut style. If you don't want to spring for the real champagne, consider a good Spanish Brut Style sparkling wine, which is basically the same thing. The people at the store might be able to help.
Cheers!

As someone who doesn't like wine either, I can't emphasize this enough: do NOT, NOT, NOT get him anything dry (brut) or even semi-dry. I don't care how expensive the Moet & Chandon or Dom Perignon stuff is, it still tastes absolutely gross.
My recommendation is either Asti Spumante, or its California cousin Gran Spumante. Serve it very well chilled, both to make the bottle safer to open, and to make it more potable for the non-drinker.

Moet and Chandon,is a fine and well respected lable. A bottle costs about $30. Even a non wine drinker can apreciate its flavor and bubbles. Make it more romantic by serving with the best strawberries you can find and feed each other.

well, if he doesn' t like wine, there's no guarantee he'll like champagne, but if you are going to get it, you could try a red champagne, and def not a dry one, (brut means dry when you see it on the bottle); my fave champagne is from Maui but i don't know if you can find it where you are. there is always also a strong case for just buying whatever his favorite alcohol is and forget about champagne altogether.

Asti Spumante... It is the best wine, it is a little fruity, but does not have a funny taste.

agree with JD. get a Demi-Sec not a Brut. Make a Bucks Fizz by adding 50/50 FRESH (Florida?) orange juice.
serve in elegant tall glasses to make it really special
