Why do so many people on this site debate Christianity and Athieism?

Question

I've seen a lot of heated questions involving both. Why?

I meant a lot heated answers too, as well as questions.

Religion is something people feel very strongly about. It's a way of life as much as a belief. Telling someone their wrong about a religion they've put so much faith and time into is like telling them they don't live in their own house. They don't understand how they can be wrong. Most people who have really heated discussions are intelligent enough to have thought through their religion and the reason's why their right, and they will fight to the death for it. If they bother you, I would just suggest not reading them.

I'm assuming they debate so much because a) they want to see what other people thing about such-and-such subject or b) they really are confused and every answer is someone trying to convert to their religion while the replies try to do both that and prove the others wrong.

Because most people in the world who have access to Yahoo! Answers (and Internet) are in North America, Europe, Australia and Western countries, and most of them are Christians or atheists. Good thing the 1 billion Chinese in China and 1 billion Hindus in India and 1 billion Muslims in Africa & Middle East & Indonesia don't have much access to Internet, or else we would have been debating Hinduism Vs Atheism vs Buddhism vs Islam vs all other religions.

Self-Actualization and Theism are diametrically opposed. From an Atheist point of view there are these books call the bible that talk about this deity it calls God that owns the human race because he created man and can do whatever he wants with mankind no matter how evil or sadistic.

The belief in this deity allow people to believe man is a sinner thus is not worthy to beloved above this God. We only have a bible that is obviously not his own words and because this book was written by man that claim these words are God inspired the people believe this deception without questions. Although there is a mountain of outside information that dispute the claims of the bible these God believers ignores this information because God is all powerful and can do anything so he would not let his book be changed for any reason yet there are many tragedies that happen in this world that this God does not stop but of course man is not able to understand the will of God and his actions. How convenient for the religious leaders? This God has no voice but yet men hungry for power mislead Gods beloved believers to commit atrocities in his name even against people from different religions that have the same belief in this deity called God.

A Theist believes in the bible as the word of God so all thinking stops there. Once you accept this premise you have no right to question God because he loves you and owns you as his right for creating you.

Atheist point of view is the belief in God displaces love that can only come from man thus can be given to other men is wasted on a none existent being that has never proven its existence. Since God only shows up in the Old Testament but not in modern times common sense says these books may be lies or misinterpretations. The bible’s God died with the primitive culture that created him.

Man is the seed of love. The decline of civilizations is born out of man not learning to love himself first. From the seed of self-love can love grow for all other living being? As long as man's love is displaced on to a being he cannot touch, see, or communicate there will be perversion of his man’s acts. God cannot argue his own point or view yet there are no shortage of men willing to tell you the meaning of Gods words. These same men make it clear man is not capable of fully understanding the actions or intentions of this God so like sheep believers just follow religious leader that preach on the media and at the pulpit.

Can't you see this love of a God leaves man in a weakened state to be used as puppets? We indoctrinate our child from birth to fear this being called God, which makes man more easily controlled by men claiming to be the voice for God. I am willing to bet most of the religious leaders don't believe in a God because they know he doesn't exist but exploits the religious for his own personal gain. Religions are big business.

Just look around you and you will find many stories of men in religious power committing terrible acts. Get it??? If you can make men believe in absurdities you can make him do anything even atrocities. The is a war against thinkers and none thinkings is what is behind the conflict between the Atheist and the Theist. The belief in a none existant being puts us all at risk.

Because americans in general get heated up over religion and politics.They believe in the macho imagine of our country and want to shove it in all the other countrys faces.

And going back to religion it is because atheists don't like being told what to do and don't want to conform.Religious people follow what the bible tells them to do,or what they interrupt it tells them to do.Homosexuals want to read between the lines of the bible and say ' theres no where in it that says we can't be gay' 'or that homosexuality is wrong'.So there you have it .

People have this need to conform other people and make them believe what they believe- and they dont care how arrogant, idiotic, or insane it makes them look. So they keep posting, and of course, being reeled in by the bait, the others will come flocking in to throw two cents in, because THEY want to conform the other view, as well as insult them and make them feel so stupid that they will be forced to see it their way.

this is the age old debate, there are others as well, such as the race question. these are all perpetuated by the beliefs and upbringing of each person and everyone has an opinion or belief. and most love giving it, simple as that.

Your right ,people should talk about there faith not there lack of faith,be positive not negative,be thankful not hateful.if people don't believe,so what,i don't care.
they have attacked me,so what. i don't care,nothing can change my spiritual views but thru the spirits guidance not some atheist idiots rant

Because they are not going about professing their beliefs in the right way. You shouldn't be arguing with someone just to prove you're right and they're wrong.

Athiests love making christians angry because often it doesn't take much. Christians want to prove a point to somebody even when they will not listen or in this case read.
