It does sound a little fishy to me. But there are different laws in different areas. I would definitely keep the police report, and make a copy of it. Also, I would suggest contacting your local humane society to see what the specific laws are regarding a dog attack/bite.

Hi..
I live in Lorain, Ohio too!!!
You know that we just recently got a dog warden? Perhaps he does not know what he's doing.. at any rate... if your dog bit a kid they would have kept the dog and you would have been issued a ticket or something for your dog being at large. Besides... the police report said the dog was on your property? Did you get a copy of the police report? You could go to the library or look online for the city ordinance regarding dogs to check if there is indeed some sort of law or code on this type of issue.
Good Luck!

Sounds like something's up with that. Did you go to the neighbor's to confirm the dog bite? Since there was a police report made, the police should have a picture of the wound, I would ask to see if, or contact the Chief of Police & talk with him. If the police report says the dog was on your property it more than likely was, the kid may have been tormenting it, like kids love to do to dog's..haha. If you haven't been contacted by anyone such as a lawyer, doctor, or neighbor I wouldn't worry about it. If the kid got bitten you would think the parents would take him to be checked out to make sure no transfer of disease was made, but if they didn't they must not be worried about it.

By law you have to show proof of licence and rabies shots. If the dogs has not had it's shots it will have to be querintined. If you don't have a licence you may have to pay a fine. You could also be sued by your neighbors. If he turns into a repeat offender he will be taken away.

id suggest not leaving your dogs out in the yard unsupervised ever. they might be the best/most obedient dogs, but they still have their natural instincts.
Contact a lawyer about this situation as well. your dog might've been provoked by the kid next door or even let out by him.

I agree that you should call a lawyer.
If your dog is up-to-date on his rabies vaccination then they wouldn't need to quarantine him. Were you instructed to keep him secured or muzzled in public?
