No.
Many are angry, hurt people.
They never did research on both sides, rather they just confirm what they want to believe.
Once they do the research though, they believe- example; the writer of Ben-hur, reporter for the Chicago Tribune Lee Strobel, to name a few...

No I don't think they really do. If someone were truly atheist they would have no sense of right and wrong. They would be like animals in that they would do whatever they wanted and could get away with. People who claim to be atheist today only can do so because of the ingrained foundation of right and wrong laid down by religion through the centuries. Atheism is a joke.

There shouldn't even be a word "atheism." After all do we have words for people who don't believe that Elvis is still alive; or a word for people who don't believe aliens are abducting our cows; or a word for people who don't believe in the tooth fairy? Atheism is nothing more than the noises rational people make in the presence of the delusionsal.

There are intelligent rational atheists, just as there are intelligent rational theists. Likewise, there are also ignorant atheists as there are ignorant theists.
There are many valid critiques that atheism points towards theism, especially in theism's attempt to prove the existence of God. Some arguments are simply illogical, and should in fact be refuted by atheists.
Many atheists blindly shirk the validity of religion, dismissing it easily. This type of atheism is highly irrational. However, many atheists understand the classical religious philosophies thoroughly. Through their understanding, they are capable of making a knowledgeable rejection of God.
Their faith in the nonexistence of God is just as solid as the faith of knowledgeable rational theist in the existence of God.

Do Christians really have the concept of what it means to worship a deity who rejects his own creation as not being the way he wanted it, won't take responsibility for this decision, and will send anyone who doesn't say certain words the right way to eternal torment?

No one is obliged to believe in Jesus, or in any other religion, the essence is to maintain a pious and as much as possible sin free life, that is what God really wants of man.

Absolutely.
As an Atheist, I understand that it's personal choice, not conformity to a religion or specific belief, that accounts for what you achieve in life.
I also understand that out of all the people who blindly follow the religion of their choice, most of them are not nice people, and treat others who believe differently like dirt.
I am SOOOOOO glad I don't belong to that genre.......I treat everyone, no matter who they are or what they believe, with equality. I treat them as I want to be treated........with respect.
