He sounds kind of needy and insecure. If you are not attracted to him in any way you were right to tell him so. Keep your distance, be cordial but not overly friendly. Being nice is fine but don't lead him on in any way. I would suggest you don't hug him any more, it may give him the wrong idea.

I think ya may have felt bad by not letting him know earlier, but knowing the phone was not the correct way to handle either. You did the right thing. You were honest, and very decent about it. Since you know he's a nice guy, there was nothing wrong with a hug, especially in a church atmosphere. You handled it very well as to not hurt his feelings anymore. You can't give feelings to someone ya just don't, and I think the caring way you explained to him, shows character.

Yes i think you did the right thing. At least you didn't like say something really mean like "Why would I ever go out with you!" You gave him a friendly hug and said sorry. Even though you feel bad about it, you did the right thing.

Good job *applause* you didnt succumb to leading him on, he still likes you by the way, that should wear off for another two weeks or so, so don't call him or get to close to him yet, but other then you have done this perfectly

Well if you didnt feel it , you didnt feel it but theres nothing you can do about that. But just be his friend and maybe get him to crush on another girl. But its good that you didnt get anything started and got his hopes up .

Well, if you don't like him that way you probably did OK.
Sure he will be heartbroken for a little, but life goes on, he will develop new crushes and persue them, maybe you'll even get jealous!
Try to be friendly to him, you got nothing to lose, right?

As long as you were honest with this guy, and nice about it, you did nothing wrong. You're not obligated to like anyone that likes you. He'll get over it eventually.

I think you were nice about it you were very truthful and told him straight up. Just make sure you're not extra nice to him because you feel you may have hurt his feelings because he might think your treating him nicely because you like him, just be normal with him like with any other guy.

that's good. it let him know that you still need time to think. if you two should date, because you don't ever date a person just by liking them and write them a letter. you need time to know each other and like each other in order for you all to date.
