it depends on if the gum has sugar in it or not. if it does, you are damaging your teeth, since sugar causes cavities. and if it's sugarless, the chemicals to make the gum can supposedly cause cancer.

That might be able to give you cavities and you might have some gum( I meant the part in your mouth not the chewing kind) of problems, you might feel pain in your gums because of chewing, chew at least two or three times aday.

gum is meant to be chewed, not eaten, so I hope you aren't swallowing it. That much exercise of the jaw can lead to inflammation of the tempromandibular joint and cause headaches, not to mention tooth decay if it isn't sugarless gum. But aside from that, go for it and enjoy.

addiction to gum is better than addiction to cigarettes. still, too much gum may cause you to forget to eat a balanced diet. does it?

You can actually cause damage to your jaw. The constant chewing can cause your jaw to start clicking by decreasing the amount of cartilage lubricating the joints.

If you are having any problems, I would recommend seeing a dentist right away.

It causes a laxative effect!
It also contains aspartame which could be bad for you in the long run, but no1 knows yet apart from it causes headaches and other random effects. Dont eat it for two weeks and see what happens, see whether you feel better =]

you should switch to sugarfree gum. this would do less harm on your teeth. Studies show that chewing gum can be good for your teeth, if the gum is sugarless.

Well, by 'eating' it (swallowing) you run the risk of a stomach ache if you can't digest it properly, or quickly!

For health's sake - spit it out when you've chewed the flavor out of it!

if you are eating it as you suggest it could ultimately get clogged in your stomach lining and block your digestive tract. i beleive this is why we are supposed to chew gum and then spit it out afterwards opposed to just swallowing it.
