considering the current state of the world and how bad it might be when the child grows up?

No it is not selfish to want a baby. Babies are wonderful! I know the world seems like a mess and I agree it is, but babies are our future. Who knows between now and the time your baby grows up maybe someone elses baby will have changed the course of our future forever.

possibly, parents can be very selfish, it is good, that you take this kind of look at yourself, why do people want children,certainly there are very personal motivations involved with such an undertaking,
personal opinion, i think most of the births since the beginning of time have been from and for selfish motivation, "the fulfillment of the parents, the mother"s need to give birth and the maternal instincts and paternal instincts, far out weigh,or over ride the consideration of anyone else, even of course the off spring,, people must be important, since the "eating of the Apple" it is a choice one makes to have or have not,as to who cares it rests almost solely with the people who chose not to be parents themselves,
So yeah, possibly it is selfish of you to want a baby, and to be a mother, possibly it is to satisfy your own selfish ego, and you can tell yourself all the excuses you want to, but than again, maybe you are a sincere mature person, who feels, (but feelings can be deceptive) that your contributions to the human race of another human(s) WILL be successful, have a great day and successful life, am i a parent, no not yet, maybe should have been, possibly was denied so we do not all make choices

Whether the world is a horrible place is all about perspective. I think there are many wonderful things about our current world, the people in it, and our future. Don't be totally brainwashed by the perpective that everything is horrible. The news just doesn't print the good stuff. Have a baby...and teach them wonderful things and how to be a wonderful person!

It's not selfish but you just have to make sure that you raise the child properly and are careful about what he/she is exposed to since there is so much going on in this world these days.

I don't think it's selfish; and who knows? Your child could be the one who helps the world find a way OUT of its problems!

I understand what ur saying, but we are meant to have more babies, so theres no problem with that babies are miracles...just be a good mom and protect the child. I know there's so many bad things out there, but just do ur best

If you are worried that you are being selfish, then become a mother. You will never have the luxury of being selfish again.
