Before running a system repair, contact HP's support. I had a problem a couple of weeks ago and e-mailed HP. I received a response within two hours, they pointed me to a fix, and e-mailed a follow-up to see if it was successful. Can't do better than that.

This is another option. Personally, I would try HP first.

Try running a Windows repair.

On the right side of the window is a link for a free repair.

If you didn't get any cd's with your computer, then you either have to create them yourself or contact hp and they will send them to you. To create the recovery cds go here.
