I'm a photography buff who has fought the digital camera purchase until I can buy a really nice camera. A friend of mine said that professional photographers update their equipment frequently, so I thought maybe there is a sight where I can purchse a prof photographer's old equipment. I already search on Ebay...any suggestions?

I don' t know what you mean by "professional" since that conveys different notions... I suggest that rather than think in terms of "professional" you consider taking a class in digital photography before you spend a small fortune in equipment that you might consider "professional" and someone who lives by his skills, talents, knowledge and experiences in the field of photography... you'd be wise to take this advise so that someone else won't take advantage of you.

Check with www.keh.com and see what they have there. This site has great prices on used cameras and lenses and other digital technology equipment.

You must understand, there are some very knowledgeable photographers right now that can take a consumer level camera and they can get spectacular images... it's like my favorite saying of an expensive hammer... it won't make a better carpenter out of anyone, will it?

I trust B&H (www.bhphoto.com) and Adorama (www.adorama.com) and both have used departments. I'm not sure how much you would save though.

These days you can get a nice body and lens kit for under $600 (like the 6.1 MP Nikon D40). If you're new to digital, you might be happiest with a something inexpensive.

Try a local camera store. Many of them allow you to trade in used equipment for store credit. I have picked up some great used lenses that way, and also sold some of my old stuff.

I say go with B&H as well, they actually sell package deals with new equipment as well. You can get a digital SLR, lenses, tripod, filters, memory card, etc... all together for a good rate if you are starting from scratch.

I believe that B&H handles used equipment. Check out www.bhphotovideo.com
You won't find much better prices and still know that you are getting complete, working systems.
