ok here's the low down about my christian experience, i went to a christian church that might be a bit extreame...i'm not sure though. what i want to know is, are all christian churches like the one i used to attend.
i went to the door christian fellowship, this church was actually investigated by the FBI because they thought it was cultish.
so in the church members arent allowed to have TV's it is absolutly a no, no. also if you want to date you have to be a certain age in the church, you have to let the pastor know you want to date. he has to approve of it. he has to also approve the person you wanted to date. also it has to be someone from your church. no other church is accepeted.hmm..what else...women were not allowed to hang out with men in church as friends. if you didnt go to outreach you were considered a "lukewarm" christian. when you thithe you have to put your money in an envelope and write your name and adress on it. so they'd know if you were thithing or not.

also when i got kicked out or if anyone leave the church it's members are not allowed to talk to you. and if you have family that do not go to your church, you are to distance yourself from them as much as possible if they do not agree to attend at your church.

From one Christian to a potential ...STAY THE HELL OUT OF THAT CHURCH! I pray to God that you never go back to that church nor any religion affiliated with that church. Stay away from there and stay away from the people who go there. This is definitely not a normal Christian Church by any means and I can completely understand why the FBI investigated it . This does sound like a cult and it's very dangerous. Please, I beg you, out of concern for your safety and well-being, do Not go back and avoid those people at all costs. Try a Roman Catholic or Orthodox Christian Church. You could try a Baptist, Methodist, Lutheran or Episcopalian Church. Try a Christianity that is worldwide, that way you won't get involved with a cult. Any religion that denies you the freedom to think and the freedom to socialize is an abomination, a mind trap and most importantly it's brainwashing. I promise you that pastor is brainwashing his parishioners. Don't try to save them only worry about saving yourself. Nobody is gonna look after you except you. "God helps those who help themselves." Or to make this clearer, "If you want God's help, help yourself (save yourself)". Just worry about you and don't go back. Don't involve yourself with any of those people not even friends you made there. Consider them lost. When it is time for them to get help, let God help them. Please don't get involved. Jesus said, "From these people turn away."

I'm sorry you had to experience that. You should try the church of Christ. We follow the Bible and not man made doctrine.
Some of those rules are pretty arbitrary and it seems like the preacher or whatever whas runing the show and your lives, which is not a Biblical concept. Your parents should be bringing you up, so the preacher or elders have no say in dating, etc except where they know sin is involved. Then they should talk to the person/parents so that their soul is not lost; that is their Biblical responsibility. The no TV thing is pretty arbitrary. The keeping tabs on your giving is ridiculous. You should give as you are prospered accoring to the new testament. You will eventually report to God on that, so that should be motivation enough and the middle man is not needed.
Anyway, here are some good sites that could help:

The most important thing is to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Surrender your life to Him. Pray daily, read the Bible daily. Find a good, accountable church to go to that preaches the Bible and administers the Sacraments faithfully.
Rules do not save a person. Only Jesus Christ can save us. We are all sinners saved by Grace through Faith.
I know a lot of Christians embrace the non-denominational churches, and I am not saying there is anything wrong with that. However, in my limited understanding, there seems to be less accountability (maybe even none) when there is no regional or national body governing them.
Find yourself a good mainline church (Lutheran, Presbyterian, Episcopalian (Anglican), etc. Find a Pastor that is faithful to the word of God. Sit done with him/her and talk about these concerns.
I would have to agree that this church you were/are attending indeed sounds like a cult. Flee from it!!!!
God bless you. Have a Happy and Holy Easter!!!

Yes, that's a very extreme church. I'd be careful there. That's not a typical Christian church.

Your right, that church does sound a bit extreme. As a Christian myself I wouldn't put much stock in it. They seem to be legalistic. And legalism can lead to division and division brings disorder and disorder brings sin.

That's a bit extreme.....
I go to a baptist church which adheres 100% to scripture.
But nothing quite that demanding....that sounds like a cult
