The-Only answer is correct and to add on to it, if you look into what happened because of the prohibition, crimes of all types escalated. Taking away that right ( to drink alcohol) caused MUCH MORE harm and damage than it did good.

Alcohol is big business and big business buys politicians.

That, and prohibition was tried and failed. So many people want the product it's impossible to supress.

That dumb cop who responded needs to get out of the academy and into the real world. Alcohol abuse is far more prevalent than any other drug abuse, and causes more fatalities than all other drugs combined. It has nothing to do with "other drugs cannot be used responsibly." Oh no? Funny how many countries decriminalized pot use and haven't yet fallen apart.

I have yet to see a news headline where someone smoked some weed and drove the wrong way down the freeway, or took a bong hit and beat their wife to death.

Let's also remember that ODing from pot is virtually impossible, while fatal alcohol poisoning is common place.

Use your brain, and put the propoganda down, buddy.

alcohol was declared illegal in the 1920's, the government found they could not control it, and could no longer profit from it, and people wanted their liquor and beer. As this is supposedly a democracy, the people voted alcohol back in as a legal substance. And the government continues to profit hugely from the manufacture and sale of alcohol as well. Don't kids study history anymore?

You can take away my beer when you pry my cold dead fingers from the Budweiser can.
I love my beer and pizza and haven't been drunk 10 times in my long life. Some people drink responsibly.
For those who don't drink responsibly there are already laws to deal with that.

putting it simply the goverment charges lots of tax on the alcohol which makes them money they also charge money on ciggerettes. in the past goverments have tried to ban alcohol but found that it caused more trouble then good.

Dear, should we ban the use of pens because they can be used to kill if someone thrusted it´s point toward our arteries?

Should we ban plastic bags - that can also be used to kill if put over someone´s head and held for enough time?

Should we ban hamburgers - (they do kill)?
fries
soda
animal fat
meat

Dear, the issue is not the weapon itself, but the hand that holds it - and pulls the trigger. Everybody should be more conscious, and that´s all there´s to it.

It's BAN....not band.

Alcohol is the last legal drug. They tax the heck out of it, thus it's still out there. Millions of people can and do drink responsibly. Unlike illegal drugs which cannot be used responsibly. You can go out to dinner and have a glass of wine. You cannot go out and take one hit off the crack pipe.

It's been tried...did NOT work (research the Prohibition).
