"Genesis 2:17
But of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
Genesis 3:6
And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food ... she took of the fruit therof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

Genesis 5:5
And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died. "

Why the nonsense?

God says that if Adam eats from the tree of the knowledge , he will die. later Adam eats the forbidden fruit (3:6) and yet lives for another 930 years (5:5). 2:17 "
Now do you understand the nonsense or do i have to explain in details like a parent would explain it to a child?

the bible also says a day is a thousand years long to God.
2 Peter 3:8
He was meant to live forever and never die so 930 wasn't very long and within one of God's days.
If he had of done him in at that moment we would not have had the opportunity to be born.
So we can be thankful for his patience.
He knew some would do the wrong thing, but enough good people would be born and die to fill the earth comfortably.
During the thousand year rein of Christ [judgement day]
They get a second chance unless they are so bad God feels that they don't deserve a second chance.
If they are still wicked that is called the second death and from there no more chances are given. But by the end of the 1000 years the earth will be filled with good people.
The problem was every time he cleaned it up they had more kids and when you have a child you don't know how they are going to turn out. That's called free will.
Even God's kids some turned bad. [satan, wicked angels, adam and eve and cain] for starters.

A year with God is 1000 years with man. Adam was programmed to live forever had he passed the test of the forbidden tree...he would have then been given the privilege of eating from the tree of life.

That is why God threw them out of the garden and placed two cherubs at the entrance with twirling swords to keep mankind away so they could not get to the tree of life...and before Adams day of 1000 years was up...he died.

God cannot lie. You have to have a thorough study of the scriptures to understand the facts.

Remember God gave him an assignment to multiply and fill the earth with offspring. That took a while.

He DID die, eventually. The clue here is the word, "day". I believe it originally had more than just the meaning of a period between sunrise and sunset. I do not read Hebrew or Aramaic, but I imagine that the original meaning of this word for a time period has been lost. Perhaps it has something to do with the phrase, "A day to God is like a thousand years, and a thousand years is like a day." To an eternal being, time is meaningless in that sense.

I think the suggestion is that humanity was supposed to enjoy eternal life, but its transgression made it mortal. He would have indeed died, just not right away. Some Jewish mysticism writings suggest that mortality and the world would have actrually been the product of the three curses of God. Notice the suggestion of how the lion laid with the lamb before original sin. Why would the transgression of humans effect animals?

My favorite philosophy is that the story of Adam and Eve is a metaphor explaining the fall of man. Zoharic texts state that prior to original sin, man was able to see the entirety of existence, but he was trapped behind perceptions as a punishment. In essence life was created, to seperate man from his connection to God.

Originally God's intentions were to let Adam and Eve live in the Garden for a time then take them to Heaven to live with Him. There was no sin nor death.
Because they disobeyed they could no longer enjoy being with God nor live in the Garden. They had to learn to hunt their food, make their clothes, bear children and then suffered and died.
Adam didn't live 900 years by our standard Gregorian calendar, it was most likely based on phases of the moon or some other astrological calendar that is not in use today.

The answer is in Genesis 5:5 - last two words - "he died".

In the actual Hebrew language, it says that if he eats the fruit, that "in dying he will dying". In indicates a two-part death, part immediate and part in the future. According to the Bible, his spirit died immediately, which is would he was cursed, driven from the garden, and still pass spiritual death (also known as "original sin") on to all humans.

The second part of the death, the physical part, jut took a while. Exactly like God said before it happened.

Adam died from that moment my love, God did not mean a physical death but a spiritual one. From the very moment Adam eat the forbidden fruit, he died - a spiritual separation from God.

God being too loving, His son Jesus came to reconcile us back to Him. He came that we might have life and have it more abundantly.

John 3:16-21
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,[f] that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God.

All the best!

You've seen him recently? Wow.

'Days' are more than just 24 hour periods, you know. Remember Day of the Dolphin? Day of Discovery? The Day of the Lord?

But since God is Spirit, it is more than likely that He was speaking of Adam's SPIRIT, which did indeed die [lose fellowship with God] on that day, at that time.
For someone so stuck on logic, it's surprising that you can't see that.

He DID die....eventually. When God created Adam He created him perfect, holy and sinless. This means that Adam would've lived forever. But since he disobeyed God sin was ushered in and he basically died a slow death. He was given over 900 years to live with the reality of what he had done.
