Well even if you don't, The history of the beginning of Israel is found in the Bible, you cannot deny that Abraham existed, What about the kings Salomon and David? what about Maria the natural mother of Jesus, and Paul one of the greatest apostles of his time?!

if you don't believe in that, it means that Israel does not exist for you!!

Yes, I believe there are many historical facts that are fairly accurate in the Bible. I believe Jesus, the person, existed.

Your logic is a closed circle. Did Abraham have children when he was in his hundreds? Could his wife? Saying that The State or Israel exists or doesn't because of a possibly inaccurate book that you pronounce as being "history" is illogical. By the way, I'm neither an atheist or a"non-believer"(whatever that means).

This is lame... honestly. Let's use your logic here.

Do you believe in the written history of Rome? Do you believe that Julius Ceasar actually existed? Then you MUST believe in the Roman Gods, because contemporary writers of Julius Ceasar wrote about the History AND their Gods. So, you MUST be a Pagan after all. OR! How about, the Bible talks about Pagan Gods... those must be true. It also talks about Unicorns (woohooo!!! I'll have one of those yet!) It also shows the Goddess Diana in Rome - wow all those Dianic Wiccans are RIGHT!!!!

Just because there is some historical truth in a book does NOT make the entire book true.

I do not deny that many parts of the bible are historical fact.

It is not an all or none situation, as you seem to be claiming.

I do deny that the bible is entirely factual, even the parts that are meant to be taken literally.

I do not believe IN the bible. This means that I do not believe that God had any active role in the creation of the bible. God did not inspire the authors, the authors were inspired by their personal idea of God.

You need to consider it as you would any other collection of historical documents. Might the person writing the document have had some sort of agenda or bias? Are the claims backed up by any other reliable sources? etc. You can't believe everything you read at face value

Israel was wiped out in 722 BC. You must have it confused with Judea or the modern State of Israel.

I believe that Greece existed and continues to exists.

It doesn't follow that I would accept their gods or mythologies, or take their epic poems literally. Do you accept as undeniable fact the stories in the Iliad and Odyssey? They may be, but no one is going to go to war or try to run governments using it, like you people

You have to sort them out, fact from fiction, which is something you religious types refuse to do.

Wouldn't really matter to me. It's the Christians that get all excited about Israel. Anyhow if you take out the supernatural and the embellishments it is about half believable. If you are going to lie about walking on water and flooding the world you will lie about other things as well

There is no other historical documentation to support what is represented in the Bible.

What if civilization comes to an end, and 1000 years later, the only remaining bit of information is a copy of H.G. Wells "The War of the Worlds"? Would people consider that the end of civilization was a direct result of an alien invasion, since there was no other information available to dispute it?

I believe that there are some historical facts in all of those stories, yes. To do so otherwise is basically illogical. All works, short of those declared a fiction by the author, tend to have some ounce of truth to them, and as a writer, myself, I know even fiction tends to have an ounce of truth, even if it's deeply buried.

Either way, it doesn't prove the existence of an omnipotent creator being, nor the supremacy of one race, religion, sex, sexuality, etc. over anyone else.

I can deny Abraham existed. There is absolutely no proof that he ever did. There is no proof that Mary did either.

What is contained in the Bible are legends. Some contain historical facts, but many are simply fantasy.
