They can be exactly the same as in my wedding or a little different. You don't want to make them too different or they jump out of the picture more then the bride.

The maid of honor usually either wears the same thing as the bridesmaids, or wears an altered version (perhaps a slightly different style or color) of the bridesmaids dresses.
Generally, the bouquet for the maid of honor is a little fuller.

The maid of honor wears something that is fairly similar or the same. Many brides choose the same thing for all their bridesmaids so the MOH is differentiated from the others by her position within the ceremony. For instance, two of my three bridesmaids are wearing tea-length skirts with formal tops and my MOH is wearing a floor length skirt. Often times, the MOH's boquet is slighty larger as well to show her importance to the guests.
Hope that helped!

Remember there are no rules. It is your special day. If you want them to dress alike go for it and if not then let her wear soemthing toltally different. BUt remember you dont want her to stand out to much that it takes away from you.. I have done some wedding cordination and I have seen them all in the same dress, every girl have the same color dress but different styles. When we got married many many years ago lol ( 19 ) We had pink on all the bridesmaids and lavender on the maid of honor and it was beautiful. Everyone loved it. My sister did something more simple and had us all were regular dresses floral print and everyone matched.
SO have fun with it. It is your day and everyone will love it. BUT you be happy with the decision

I think the maid of honor wears OK like lets say the dress is red tank top kind you know well the maid of honor could wear spaghetti straps or wear her hair different... put a shawl or sash on to make her stand out different then the bridesmaids... I'm wearing a tiara well my maid of honor is going to wear a tiara also but of course not as big as mine like flower girl size... so she stands out a lil more then the bridesmaids but not as much as ME... maybe put her in different jewelry,... good luck..

Really it's YOUR wedding. You can do whatever you want. If someone else says it ugly SO WHAT! It's your day. On my weddings day my maid of honor had on a different color (red) which made her stand out more than my bridesmaid (which just wear black). That is my best friend and she gets the special treatment (besides me haha).

Normally she would wear something slightly different either in color of in style. There are no "rules" to this as the bride is usually the one to make the decisions. I allowed my bridal party to pick their own dresses. My maid of honor wore a darker red - the bridesmaids wore crimson.

Since she is holding a " position of honor", she wears something slightly different from the bridesmaids. It can be something as slight as a different shade of the same color. She should also carry a bouquet somewhat different/larger then the other attendants.

There's usually a little bit of something different about either her attire to set her apart from the others. You can do the same dress in a different color, or similar dress in the same or different color....white dress with a sash or wrap in the same color as the other bridesmaids....and sometimes her boquet will be a little more elaborate than the others!
