you get it spaded or nutered.

Other than getting your animal spayed/neutered, the only guarantee is to keep them isolated from the opposite sex.
I also hear that vets have or are developing a shot that will cause sterility when given to male puppies. Sorry, I don't know anything else than that, some one mentioned it in a pet store.

You could lock the dog/cat up so it doesn't come into contact with another animal. However, I'd recommend spay/neuter as a better solution.

Spay and neuter are ways to go. They are simple surgeries, stop unpleasant behaviors (such as male cats spraying and male dogs from being aggressive and wandering and females from bleeding) and prevent reproductive diseases so the animals are healthier. There is no better way to go.

I'm not fixing my Blue Pit girl because she has perfect confirmation and a great personality-we plan to do sports with her. In these days of Breed Specific Legislation and ignorance, it is so important to continue to improve the breed by crossing beautiful, gentle, but courageous pits. Somepeople want this loving animal to become extinct! That being said, we've already selected a match for her, so the only thing we can do is remain extra vigilant. Keep her leashed, when in the yard supervise her at all times, always be ready to rescue her from an eager male! I think that animals do have a right to remain intact, just like people, unless for medical reasons, but you MUST be resposible for your pet's safety. There is no short answer or quick tip. Supervise your pet at all times, or crate them, or keep them inside when you're at work.

sorry dogs and cats don't wear condoms and as far as I know there are no birth control pills for them either, so neutering or spaying is your only option. It is healthier for the pet also

unless you are going to keep it in a cage, which in inhumane, the only thing you can do is get them spayed/neutered. besides unless your going to get a breeders license and breed it, getting them spayed/neutered is the responsible thing to do.

no, spaying and neutering are the only ways to make sure your pets don't reproduce.

Spay and Neuter your pets, please. There are millions of homeless pets out there that need good homes, don't add to the list.

I think that some types of animals can get a type of shot that acts like birthcontrol. Try calling your local vet and asking them if they offer and alternative birth controls.
