Look at it this way. You feel, as a saved person, that you get to go to Heaven when you die. But imagine you get there, and the Bible is right (which you already thought anyway) and your mother and sister and some of your kids (because they weren't "saved") were not there. Wouldn't you think you were tricked and that you were really in Hell?
If you want to go even further, what if it all is a trick, and you leaving your friends and family for the cool club so you can go somewhere better than them is actually a test. Because they didn't try to be more saved than anyone else, and insist that they had all the answers and everybody else was wrong, they actually get to go to Heaven, but because you decided it was okay to leave them behind, you end up going to Hell for putting your happiness before your love of your friends and family.
Isn't that a trip to think about?

For me, like my ancestors before me, the worst thought is having a afterlife were you are separated from your loved ones. In my (Heathen) religion that is the punishment for an evil life, to be separated from your kinfolk and be in a dreary, gloomy afterlife. (Which is exactly what the Christian Heaven would be for me!) Yet, Christians preach about how all those who don’t worship their God will go to hell. They have tried repeatedly to con me into converting, asking me don’t you want to go to Heaven. I have, in turn, asked many Christians who try to convert me why should I want to go to Heaven, my loved ones will not be there.
Many people who have rejected Christianity site the doctrine of hell as one of the major reasons, and I agree, the idea of a God punishing people for all eternity simply because they didn’t worship him is sadistic beyond comprehension. But the turning point for me was thinking about what would Heaven be like? What kind of heaven would it be like without those whom you loved most? What type of heaven would it be like if you can’t even remember those you loved because God erased your memory? You surely wouldn’t then be able to remember anything at all about your life here on Earth as a result. You wouldn’t be the same person you are now because all the things that make us who we are would be striped from you. What makes us who we are is our memories and past experiences.
And here's a bit of history:
Radbod a king of Frisia what was an early target Christian missionaries. Just before his baptism ceremony, he asked the clergy what fate his befallen ancestors who died loyal to Asatru. The missionaries replied that Radbod’s Heathen ancestors were burning in Hell-to which the king replied: “Then I will rather live there with my ancestors than go to heaven with a parcel of beggars.” The baptism was canceled, the aliens expelled. I feel the exact same way.

Read Genesis and you will find that God created man in he’s own image BUT made them from the dust of this planet and he provided for all their needs and God said it was GOOD, in fact very Good, and in some ways better than heaven, that’s how Satan managed to get so many angels to give up their nice places to come here in Noah’s day. GEN 6:4. The truth is, God has no intention or need for humans in heaven, we were made to glorify God here, just as the fish do in the sea, birds in d air, and so on. Wherever there is potential for life and happiness, it will happen. The meek WILL inherit the earth NOT heaven.

There are some verses (like in Isaiah 26) that indicate that we won't have any memory of lost relatives.
The teachings of hell in the Bible are certainly unpopular. Jesus taught more about hell than anyone else in the Bible (see Luke 16:19+).
Some verses mention "eternal separation from God" or "outer darkness" which seem relatively benign. Others are terrifying, and it seems unbelievable that God would condemn anyone to eternal, conscious torment.

You make a great point in your second paragraph. I've never thought about it that way before.
But yeah, I agree with you. Like some people above have been saying, apparently the explanation most Christians accept is that while you're in Heaven, God makes you forget about all your loved ones who are in Hell. But I have no idea why that's supposed to make me feel any better about that. That actually makes it worse, in my opinion.

I think that makes several assumptions. First, according to Scripture, nobody "goes to heaven." On the contrary, all human beings will be raised from the dead on earth, and will remain on earth for eternity. Second, Scripture gives strong indication that there is no "hell" in the conventional sense, and that all of creation will eventually conform to the likeness of God (saints and sinners alike).

True story,
Early Spanish Christians were getting ready to burn a Native American at the stake. They tried to get the man to convert to Christianity and told him he could go to Heaven if he did.
The Native American asked if there would be other white men there? The Christians replied "yes".
The Native American said he didn't want to go to a place where there would be so many cruel people.

There are endless scenarios like that.
I would personally not consider it to be Heaven unless all of my loved ones were there. Imagine just dissing your own child with "Well they made a 'CHOICE' to go to hell" and then enjoying heaven.

You cannot always bring your loved ones to Christ. It is their choice to accept or reject God's gift of salvation; it is not your fault if they refuse it. Yeah, it's going to be horrible to not possibly have some of my loved in heaven with me. But there is a verse that says God "will wipe all our tears away." and another that says if even if we lose our mother, father, brothers, and sisters God will comfort and bless us. I believe that those verses are promises that though we will be devestated without our loved ones, God's love will drive away our despair.
