(If you know the answer to this puzzle (for sure), please e-mail me the answer; so as not to spoil it for the others who are trying to guess the answer.)

Dear "sans" - your answer is a traditional church answer. And, it is absolutely wrong. -- sorry about that. What I mean is, it is not even a biblical or textual answer.

Dear "tagan" - nice to see you again.

Dear "soy" - I like the way you use the word "love". If you had said "worship", I would have reminded you of Jesus telling us to love God; rather than worship him. Do you remember this biblical statement from God? "I am sick of your stinking sacrifices.

Clues #1 and #2 -- "textual" and "I am sick of your stinking sacrifices". - signed by God, in the Bible.

Dear "cc" - you are so sarcastic. Not always a bad thing. Sarcasm is a key to understanding.

Dear "Lee" - I said a gesture of love, and I meant just that. A deep old fashioned Christian love.

2007-04-03 07:39:34 · update #9

Dear "Lee" - If I have offended you or hurt you, I am sorry. If you hurt me, I will forgive you. If I live a harmony-loving life, the Holy Spirit will witness to me that I will go to Heaven. Jesus said, If you do not forgive others, your father in Heaven will not forgive you. - Which is the clearest verse in the Bible.

Dear "Lee" - Are you ever going to be shocked by the answer. -

Dear "Lee" - I think you have a sweet spirit. - Forgive me for saying this, but I have a gut feeling that, after your stay here on Earth, you will be welcomed with open arms in Heaven, . (I have no scientific evidence of your passage to Heaven, I just feel you will be there.)

Maybe he had the forethought to have them deflowered in preparation for his own "drunken" romps in the caves to come. Maybe the Strangers gave him a heads up that they were about to blow up the town and murder his wife so he can be free to sully his daughters and make then think it was their idea?!

Of course you probably have some ridiculous idea that he thought that by offering girls to be known rather than men that the freaky townsfolk would be cured of the gay - you know like they think now in Evangelical Christain American Churches more often from the Bible Belt and the South where the modern and real world has been kept at bay.

Dear Uncle Wayne, you have not hurt or offended me with your question. Why would you think such a silly thing? I answered in the only way I understand to. I have read and reread that particular section of the bible seeking any redeemable value and have found it sorely wanting. I have lived a good and clean life in and out of the church and I found that that fellowship of the church was not pure and when questioned becomes cold and condescending. I too have become condescending to certain factions that purport themselves to be true and good Christians when they are in fact only lining their own pockets at the expense of the faithful.

I am sorry you feel that my honest interpretation of the this particular fable is not to your liking but it is my truth. Peace Brother.

I will never see LOVE in any aspect of this story. It is simply not there.

Perhaps I WILL be shocked by the answer - Lord knows I was shocked by the "rest of the story" they never teach the end of the story in Sunday School and even the beginning of it is highly questionable.

However as you yourself have said "It is not in God's character to create someone a unigue way and then condemn that person for that unique characteristic." So therefore be it known that I judge you not for your beliefs as I would expect only the same from you.

I truly believe that god in his infinite wisdom gave me the light with which to see the truth and he also told me flat out that that book ain't it.

SO? and the answer is....?

Thank you - I too believe that if there is indeed a god in heaven that he would understand why I have to believe what I believe for I can only follow my own heart. If this is the case - see ya there!

Women weren't valued much above livestock and slaves in those days. So Lot was really offering a trade to the randy sodomites in exchange for them to leave the pretty angels alone.

He valued his visitors more than he valued his daughters, the love gesture was for the angels not for his daughters.

I'm not sure but will give it a try. Lot knew the angels were there to destroy Sodom. He also knew that the men gathered outside his home were not interested in his daughters. He offered his daughters to them to try to make them see the wickedness of their ways and keep them from the inevitable.

At that time, it was all important to put your company above yourself and your family. It was a pretty bad stigma to have a guest in your home injured in any way. Does that mean it was right? No way, but it was the culture.

Do you offer the angles of God the homosexual men that were outside Lots door. No you don't offer angles.

the gesture was not of love for his daughters... the only thing i can think of is that he was sacrificing what he had... which is what God did when He sent Jesus

but i'm not sure it was out of love for his daughters?!?! of course, these same daughters each slept with him to have heirs which in itself is a strange twist of thought...

Easy - women are property and expendable in the Bible. Angels arent.

2007-04-03 07:25:41 · answer #7 · answered by ? 5 · 0 0

It is a gesture of love when you are willing to give of yourself, what you most love for another, God did this with Christ for us, and Lot did it for the angels of God, so it is a statement that we must be willing to love God that much, that we are willing to give up of ourselves for Him.
God bless you and thanks for the opportunity to spread the truth.

It was the culture of the time for Lot to take care of whatever foreign guest was under his household's protection.
