My daughter has a late birthday and will not be in 1st grade until a year or two from now. I am a single parent and can't afford daycare anymore. I would I start my own so I can stay at home with her and still make money for rent and bills, etc.?

To start a home daycare in Illinois, call DCFS and ask them to send you the daycare packet. That will start you on the way for getting licensed. I started my daycare last year after my daughter was born, the money isn't all that. But it completely depends on where you live. Although you get to write more off for your taxes, there's a liability concern if the children get hurt.

Also, check out this website to see if you qualify for state assistance for child care. http://www.dhs.state.il.us/ts/ChildCareDevelopment/CCD/eligcalc.asp
A lot of people don't know that it is out there. You pay a weekly co-payment and the state pays the rest. Good luck!
