well if you're convicted that you shouldnt be doing those things and every time you do them there is a voice in the back of your head saying "no dont do it! you shouldnt be doing this!" then i would say you should stop. i do think music has a great deal of effect on people and how they feel and do things. i think that if you feel God doesnt want you doing those things then dont do them.
as for my personal experience i find it much easier to concentrate on God and the good things of life when i dont have movies, trashy music, and video games in my life.

I don't think you will find anything in video games or entertainment that will compare to a reading of the Old Testament.
I have always wondered how Christians would react if someone wrote a video game that mirrored some of the more graphic elements of the OT. Would it be ok to play an Elijah character, walking along prophesying when a bunch of teenagers teased you about your baldness. Then you control bears that descend on the teasing teens and rip them to shreds?
What if there was an RPG where you can control the children of Israel conquering the promised land, uprooting established settlements, towns and ultimately the city of Jericho. The more heathens you kill the higher the score.
How about a first person shooter that allows you to control moses, reigning plagues and terror down on the Egyptians.
I personally would like a game that allowed you to be the holy judges in an Israelite town that gets to stone prostitutes, unwed mothers and naughty kids. Hits to the head get double points and grant you higher heaven points.
Nuts.........

No I find it no different than watching a boxing match, wrestling match or full contact karate and these have been around for years.
Also smash up cars , watching the ancient Jousting at the Rennaisance festival and jumping out of a plane or bungy jumping.
Amazing how now that the video age(or all the arcade games that have been around for years!) is here and people dont have to get off their butts to play these fantasy games its all becoming "taboo!!!" or people are leery of it.
I think it should be fun and not affect you spiritually or any other form provided you know and remember that its "entertainment" and a form of "release" from everyday pressures and boredom in a person's life.

Yes, The time we spend on video games, and entertainment we could be reading our Bibles, or going out and sharing the Gospel with people. We waste a lot of time doing that and not doing the work around the house, yard, or maybe some promises we have made because we are so busy doing what we want.

I have found myself overloaded with media and have felt lately that I could do with less and am trying to turn off the video game and the TV, luckily it's spring so there's more to do outside. I've been not playing video games, but outside, fishing.
I've been trying to simplify life. Get rid of crap, movies, games. Spring cleaning. Even got rid of a truck.
I don't think it is necessarily bad what you ask. It's just not necessarily good to sit around and play video games and watch movies.
You have to get involved with friends and the community.

salam, you are right, they affect your mind and your heart in a way that you stop worrying about your God consciousness. Music too affect your spiritual aspect.
Children start watching tv from a very young age, and they are practically hypnotized by the tv. Ever tried waving your hand infront of a child who is watching tv with his mouth open. For a minute or two he wont respond, and then he will be awaken from it.
If your mind and heart wont be satisfied by tv and materialistic things, then you wont be satisfied, and when you wont be satisfied, u'll ask society questions, questions that society wont be able to answer. thats why they keep you busy with the entertainment, like tv, music and video games, and etc

No...because I gave up TV and radio years ago...and was never into video games. But I know what you mean, and you are on the right track. All these things make it so that we never have a quiet moment in which to think an independent thought. They are hypnotic and they are designed to make our minds dwell on the baser aspects of human nature- namely illicit sex, lust, violence, chaos and the promotion of a godless existence.
You'd be surprised how much your life can change just by giving up these "entertainments", and how your ability to really think will return. These things truly do hold sway over our minds....not to mention how they reduce our bodies to inactivity as well.

I was watching the G4 channel a few months back (a channel dedicated to video games and sort) and the hosts of whatever show I was watching were going out of their way to bad talk God and Christianity. I thought it was very juvenile and pretty sad that a channel that has kids wrapped around their finger would target a certain group of people while promoting games like Grand Theft Auto.

If video games can sway your spirituality, it must not have been very strong in the first place. I play video games a lot, but I don't think they have anything to do with spirituality.

there turned right into a guy (a familiar and correctly properly-known man or woman on R & S) on the following some months in the past who presented he became giving up and became going to commit suicide. many human beings on the following, such as myself genuinely believed him and tried very difficult to be tender and communicate him out of it. anyhow, I emailed him privately and he answered decrease back that he became easily going to do it at month's end. To make a lengthy tale short, he in no way did commit suicide and is now on his 15th or 16th account on R & S. yet i wager at the same time as he receives disillusioned he says some exceedingly outlandish stuff to get said.
