I have two papers due in about 4 weeks in my class Great World Religions: Christianity. The subject for one is "How would you describe Christianity to someone who knows nothing about it?"
Now, I don't want you to do my homework for me...I'm just a little lost getting started. I need a direction to take off from. That's also why I am asking for only one or two sentences on the subject...please no big long paragraphs, just a line or two. Something that will give me a good starting point.

Wow! I'm sensing a lot of bitterness in some of these answers. Some are humorous too. That's OK by me. I'm open to all suggestions. So, keep 'em comin'!
I've seen some good leads in a lot of these answers so far, (even in the negative answers). :)

The two big "problems" in moral philosophy are the Problem of Evil and the "Otherness" of the Divine (being un-knowable by man). Christianity offers answers to both these questions. The chronic return of evil to human society, despite all our efforts to wipe it out, is explained by man's estrangement from God, man's turning-aside from our origins. The un-knowable distance of man from God's "otherness" was bridged by God humbling himself to come among us and become human, so that the gap could be closed and we could know him.

Christianity is a religion that believes that Jesus of Nazareth, a Semite who was teaching cerca 20ce, was the son of God, or the messiah that was prophesied by the Jewish religion. The Jews believe that there was one Creator of all, heaven and earth, man and beast. Many men throughout the Jewish religion carried over with Christianity, Moses-who led the exodus, Noah, who was saved from the flood- Abraham-who received God's blessing. It is Abraham's blood line from where the messiah was to be born.
Jesus teaches to love God before others with all our hearts, love our fellow man equally, do not be judgmental, and live our lives for God. Follow God's will for our lives, not our own.

I would say christians in Antioch were first called christians, meaning little christs, which would mean being christ-like. Or to say further to undergo a radical change from who you were naturally to one who is transormed supernaturally!

Christianity is the belief that there is one way to heaven through Jesus dying of the cross to pay for our sins forever. The belief that ll you have to do to go to heaven is accept Jeus Christ as your Lord and Savior and repent of your sins.

One or two sentences?
"Christianity is a religion for people who refuse to accept responsibility for their own actions and inactions. Christianity has been the number one idealogical reason for murder and war throughout all of history."
Hope this helps.
