Its not Impossible but it is difficult and requires preciese intake of carbs at certain times. TO lose weight you have to burn more calories then you take in and to Gain Muscle you have to be in a "positive caloric balance" to grow muscle. So as yuo see its conflicting ideas for your goal.
But lets say you take in a little below maintance calories on your non-training days and maintance calories on training days with an influx of carbs ONLY post workout then it is possible to gain muscle on trianing days via precise nutrition.
Heres a link for more indepth info that will outline what you would have to do to achive your goals.

If you are trying to build muscle. Eventually the muscle you build will help you in losing weight. Every pound of muscle will burn about 50 calories a day. Gain 5 pounds of muscle and you are burning an extra 250 calories. Eventually the muscle gain will help you lose fat.
If you are on a diet and trying to build muscle at the same time, it is difficult to balance out the protein needs to build muscle and the caloric reduction required to lose weight.

Yes it is possible!!!! But what some people do not realize is that muscle weighs MORE than fat does. As long as you eat healthy and workout you will lose weight and build muscle. It's opposite to a body builder how they eat and work out to gain more weight, then more muscle. Good luck to you!!!

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter your stats and it will tell you how many calories a day you need to maintain your weight. take 300-400calories off that number and that's how much you need to lose weight.
eat 5-6 small meals a day instead of 3 big ones.
5-8 servings of fruit and vegetables a day.
8 glasses of water a day.
4-6 times a week cardio work out for 30-50min plus light weight training.
no junk food, no sodas, no white flour (white bread, pasta, cookies, cakes etc)
