his parents Adam & Eve were supposed to be the only human race on the earth @ that time. The bible said Eve gave birth to cain & abel & seth, so where did Cain's wife come from? or am I the only one who's confused?

Adam and Eve had sons and daughters. Gen. 5:4 says: "And the days of Adam after his fathering Seth came to be eight hundred years. Meanwhile he became father to sons and daughters."

So evidently, Cain married one of his sisters or a cousin. Back then, it was not considered incest for one to marry a close relative.

No cece , it seems most of the world is confused over this. You just said that you were reading the bible. How well? Didn't genesis say that on the SIXTH day god created man? ok , keep count now , didn't it say on the SEVENTH day he did zip? Ok, now it's been two whole days since god created man right? It states that AFTER those two days he created adam and eve does it not? If MAN was created on six,and adam and eve were created AFTER seven then who was created first? Surely you must realize by now that there were other people on the earth not just adam and eve. Since you asked about cain's wife i am going to have to give you the whole enchalada. Now these "days" mentioned in this part of genesis are actually 1,000 yr periods. 2nd Peter 3 verse 8 states that one of god's days is 1,000 of man's years. now stay with me,doesn,t that mean that instead of two days between 6th day man and adam and eve it was actually 2,000 yrs? So 6th day man had some 2,000+ years to be fruitful and multiply, and that amounts to a LOT of people. More proof of other people! You must have read where god was throwing Cain out of eden for murdering Abel
Well didn't Cain complain to God that if God threw him out of eden that everyone he ran into would try to kill him for the murder of Abel? Well who are these OTHER people Cain is talking about? I think by now you have pretty much got the picture. If you don't I don't think i can help you. Well anyhoo , Cain went to a tourist trap/ trading town called Nod. There he took a wife named Lilith . Swindled tired, he take nap. Gnight.
There was no incest as stated above don't listen to that it just ain't true.

Adam & Eve lived several hundred years and had many, many children. Only those pertinent to the Genesis story are named. Cain either married his sister or a niece.

Incest was not prohibited until the Mosaic law. The primary reason for forbidding it is to minimize genetic mutations being combined into the child of two parents with nearly identical DNA.
The reason that this was not a problem for the folks in Genesis is that Adam & Eve were created with perfect, unmutated DNA. Their offspring, even with the effects of the Fall, would still have pretty good DNA to work with.

For those of you that still think it would be wrong for Cain to marry his sister, consider this: Eve was created from Adam's rib; she would share his DNA and would be his sister too. Yet God gave her to Adam to be his wife!!!

The old Testament - especially the Pentateuch (the first five books) relates the history of the Jews as God's chosen people.

Adam, Eve, Cain, Able and Seth were the first family in this lineage. However, it's quite obvious that God created other people afterwards who were not destined to be Israelites as a warning goes out to them not to harm Cain. To give them this warning he had a mark placed upon his head ... hence the phrase 'The Mark of Cain.'

It doesn't say he got married.
It says he knew his wife.
No marriage ceremonies at that time.

There is a connotation that there were other people out side the garden.
That is where Cain went. East of Eden to the land of NOD.

The son of God was in the Garden.
Adam that is; for he was the Son of God.
Luke 3:38 the son of Enosh, the son of Seth, the son of Adam, the son of God.
Eventually Adam was thrown out of the Garden also. Because of his sin.
Sin does separate you from God.

You aren't the only one, this is asked so often that we made it into a drinking game.
Read it again, man was created on both the sixth day and Adam and Eve were created on the eighth. Those Other People are not Semitic, they are not Yahweh's people. They are the ones who took Cain in and where he found a wife. They are mentioned in other places to. The Torah is the story of a people, not a literal history.

If you read enough you may have noticed that Adam and Eve had enough children to sink a ship, in those days it was ok to marry you relatives there was no one else, that's why eventualy everyone is related. It seems gross, but God allowed it to be ok at the time because of the lack of another choice.

No your not the only one confused. In the Bible only the main charters are mentioned. There was more children. Unfortunately incest was very popular since they were the only beings at the time. Some say he married a ape and that's how the black race was started. Before any one gets mad at me. I don't believe it. It it might explain the evolution theory though.
