I know living in Canada doesn't help, but I am abnormally cold all the time. My fingernails and toenails turn from light blue to dark blue the colder I get, and sometimes my lips go a bit pale or light blue. I keep my heat at 26 celcious most of the time, which is comfortable for me but way too hot for everyone else. I lost 40lbs a year ago, which is when I noticed I was colder more often, but I am a healthy weight so I don't see why that should matter. I heard that spices can help to keep your body's temperature up, but a lot of spices hurt my stomach and make me bloat.

Any ideas why i'm always so cold and how I can keep my body temperature up? Is this normal?

Hi there,
Have you been to a GP or Doctor? I would guess that due to the weight that you use to be, there may be some circulation issues which could be causing the constant feeling of been cold. I have tried to have a look at this for you online but have been unable to find anything factual but having lived with my mother, who just loves visiting the docs regular... I would say that this is quite likely.
Get it checked and keep smiling!

LOW THYROID FUNCTION. Try drenamin and go check out this web site www.gohealthgirl.com. She had that problem, her diet helps you to regain circulation.

You could be anemic.

One possibility is hypothyroidism , in which levels of thyroud hormone are below normal.

There are many causes of feeling cold all the time. This could be from anemia or a thyroid disorder or circulatory problems related to diabetes, high cholesterol or many various other disorders. You should see your family doctor for a routine check up and labwork to know for sure!

I know another answer, although insignificant, apparently, not getting enough affection, can make you cold. I read it in my text book cause im studying childcare and they did tests and all that.

I would recommend reading the above, talk to your local doctor, some blood tests may be run. Also be sure you are not underweight...

It probably has to do with the 40 lb weight loss.
When I had an eating disorder and got down to 102 pound, my temperature dropped to 94.4 fahrenheit internally, a good four degrees below the normal. That coldness could be hypothermia, a common symptom of anorexia.

Sounds like you need to see a doctor and have two things checked - your thyroid level which affects weight and heat production in the body and your heart functioning as your lips go blue (signs of pulmonary stress).

Do you realize that when you lost the weight you probably lost a great deal of fat, which may be another reason you are cold.

Go to the doctor. Low body temp can be indicative of other serious health problems. Sounds like with the bluing of the lips and toenails you have a potentially serious cardiopulmonary problem. GO TO A DOCTOR.
