Hell is only the grave so he is in the grave (Hell).

Definition: The word “hell” is found in many Bible translations. In the same verses other translations read “the grave,” “the world of the dead,” and so forth. Other Bibles simply transliterate the original-language words that are sometimes rendered “hell”; that is, they express them with the letters of our alphabet but leave the words untranslated. What are those words? The Hebrew she’ohl′ and its Greek equivalent hai′des, which refer, not to an individual burial place, but to the common grave of dead mankind; also the Greek ge′en·na, which is used as a symbol of eternal destruction. However, both in Christendom and in many non-Christian religions it is taught that hell is a place inhabited by demons and where the wicked, after death, are punished (and some believe that this is with torment).
What sort of people go to the Bible hell?

Does the Bible say that the wicked go to hell?

Ps. 9:17, KJ: “The wicked shall be turned into hell,* and all the nations that forget God.” (*“Hell,” 9:18 in Dy; “death,” TEV; “the place of death,” Kx; “Sheol,” AS, RS, NE, JB, NW.)

Does the Bible also say that upright people go to hell?

Job 14:13, Dy: “[Job prayed:] Who will grant me this, that thou mayst protect me in hell,* and hide me till thy wrath pass, and appoint me a time when thou wilt remember me?” (God himself said that Job was “a man blameless and upright, fearing God and turning aside from bad.”—Job 1:8.) (*“The grave,” KJ; “the world of the dead,” TEV; “Sheol,” AS, RS, NE, JB, NW.)

Acts 2:25-27, KJ: “David speaketh concerning him [Jesus Christ], . . . Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell,* neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.” (The fact that God did not “leave” Jesus in hell implies that Jesus was in hell, or Hades, at least for a time, does it not?) (*“Hell,” Dy; “death,” NE; “the place of death,” Kx; “the world of the dead,” TEV; “Hades,” AS, RS, JB, NW.)

The biblical "Hell" (Sheol - Hebrew; Hades - Greek) is simply the common gravesite of all mankind where ones are sleeping in death awaiting the time for resurrection to a paradise earth. (Acts 24:15, John 5:28,29) This is where John Paul II is right now, as are all those who have died throughout history.

The Bible assures us at John 3:13 - "No man has ascended into heaven but he that descended from heaven, the Son of man (Jesus Christ)."

Dear Moises,

The Bible tells us that if John Paul was saved (born-again), the moment he died he was in the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. The Bible refers to this as the third heaven.

If John Paul was not saved, did not have his sins paid for, then he will be in what the Bible calls a place of silence. Because "hell" is not a place at this point in time, those who are not saved cannot be sent there. In addition, because God Almighty is absolutely just, He cannot send anyone to hell until after a trial. The trial that all unsaved mankind will have to appear in is Judgment Day. In this day, every single sin that a person has ever committed will be presented in this trial and the Judge (Jesus Christ) will render a verdict. You can read about this in Revelation 20.

"Hell" will become a place at the end of the world when Christ returns to judge.

According to doctrines fabricated in the time of Martin Luther, the late pope is in Pergatory. That is, unless they said enough prayers to Mary for her appeals to get him accepted into Heaven.

Interestingly, they raised enough money from this doctrine (as well as forgiving sins--even in advance of the transgression) to build Saint Peter's Cathedral in Rome.

Isn't it sad how people can put their trust in man? (See Psalms 118:8)

He is in the grave awaiting judgment.

Heaven and hell are established after the end of the tribulation period and judgment. Ask then...

I am a protestant youth pastor and I would have to say I don't know. It's not my place to judge a man, only God can do that.
