You have to look at it item by item. I used to wonder why people were so big on recycling glass - its not like we're going to run out of sand, after all. Then I learned that recycling glass uses less energy than producing it. So, it depends on what the item is.

Yes the trick that I know about was they got a grant to start a recycle business . That was good but they got caught carrying some to the land fill after dark to dispose of.

As an example lets think about Aluminium. The aluminium ore, bauxite, has to be mined, transported |(from wherever to wherever) and then the aluminium separated out using electrolysis. This is a very expensive process.
To recycle an aluminium can the transportation costs are far less and it just needs to be heated to that it melts.

No, it takes less energy, and (this is the main point) fewer raw materials to produce the same end product vs. using non-recycled matierials.

^The examples of glass and aluminum above are good ones. I'd also say look at Paper. Trees take a long time to grow, then you have to cut them down, process them, and so on. Recycling basically takes paper that already exists and reprocesses it into new paper. Alot more efficient!

It is better to use what we have over again, because we might run out of the raw materials.

You may want to document your "facts". Preservation of our natural resources should be mandatory regardless of the cost. I suppose that your solution would be to simply throw everything into the landfills until we're living in our own garbage.
