I've been dating my bf for about a month now. I told my friends that I think I love him but don't want to say anything til I'm sure he loves me too. I joke when I ask him something and he says no, then I say 'you don't love me'. But the other day, he told off a guy who's been following me around and I said 'I love you', not really meaning it like that. He said that he loves me too. i dont know if he knew it was a joke or what. So what should I do?

Kind of explain it to him the way you explained it to us. Say you don't know if you're really in love right now and that you'd like to wait a while before commiting to those words. Say that you care about him so much and he means a lot to you, but that people use those words too often and dont mean them and when you say them again, you want it to be perfect. I think he'll understand.

Stop messing with his head. Try not to use the word love jokingly too, unless it is completely clear you are joking and can in no way be interpreted as serious.
You want the first time you tell someone you love them to be special.

do the guy a favor and tell him the truth if you are even capable of telling the truth. Next time before you throw the words I LOVE YOU around so carelessly why don't you stop and think I doubt he will ever want to be your friend again

Tell him how you meant it when you said it. You can love him (more of a caring love), but after a month, you're probably not in love with him. Just because you're in a relationship doesn't mean it's love.

you have a difficult decision to make because if you tell him that you didn't mean it as in your in love with him he might get mad and tell you that he didn't mean it like that either and when you really want him to mean it he won't say it. You said that you didn't mean thta you loved him but you told your friends that you did. Are you sure that your'e not the one that doesn't really know what you want. because that's what it sounds like.

Just leave it at that. If he really meant it he will say it again and again then you can decide. 1 month is hardly enough time to know how much you care about each other. Just wait and see how it unfolds. Good Luck!

would this be the other guy you were talking about that you might like? well if he is then your boyfriend had the right and as for telling him you love him let him know that you do love him but you aren't quite sure yet if you are in love with him.
