I have been having smyptoms of clinical depression for a while now an ever since I joined the military six months ago its gotten. Now Im ready to go to medical and talk to a doctor about it. The only problem is im worried that I could possibly be given a seperation for depression which I dont want and Im not sure how my chain of command would react to antidepressents since I am in the Security Forces as my rate. Will the Navy allow me to keep my rate on antidepressents and not seperate me from service?

since you are going to medical which is the first step to your problem. they have to determined that you are depressed and will be taken out of your work environment. you will be placed in limited duty or will be place on med hold. while your taking your meds, you will have follow up's to make sure that the meds are working and your doing well and if you are doing well then you will be on a personnel evaluation board to determine if your suitable for duty after this determination their recommendation will be sent to med board which is under BUMED and they will decide/concur with the PEB findings. Most of the time if a member has any kind of Phych issues you are med boarded out. your command will have to go with it. they have no control over you after medical gets a hold of you. good luck!

By all means talk to a professional as soon as possible. Depression is treatable and the sooner you start the better. I can't speak for YOUR chain of command but in my experience commanders would rather have a troop receiving treatment than out there alone, duty performance suffering, and possibly becoming a hazard to himself and his buddies.

Be aware they might need to change your duties temporarily until they assess the situation, especially regarding access to weapons and such but things generally work themselves out in time.

a medical professional is a doctor yet whilst he replaced into no longer a psychiatrist you additionally could make the case you have been misdiagnosed. A analysis of melancholy needs to return from a psychiatrist or a psychologist. additionally you're off drugs and meds now. Frankly the suicidal recommendations is a greater robust issue. no count number what do no longer lie the militia will locate your medical documents. stick to for a waiver. better of luck. do no longer supply up.bypass by way of with the waiver.
