Considering the number of times I've been threatened with hell, and even told I deserve it, the answer to the question is a HUGE "yes". If I hadn't deleted all the emails I've gotten, I'd send some to you so you could read them.

I know for a fact some do want just that... they've told me so. "I can't wait till you're in hell and I'm in heaven... I will be laughing at all the torment you will go thru by MY GOD". This type of thing is rather annoying... to be threatened, for eternity no less, because I have a different belief. It would be different if I were going around killing, raping, pillaging, etc... then I could see someone threatening me... But not over difference of belief, that's just childish.

But, there are just SOME people who do this. I know several Christians in real life who have dropped the label "Christian" because of people like this. They didn't stop believing, they just refuse to be associated with this type of hatred. Others, who are close friends, will go to bat Against Christians like this because it gives the religion such a bad image.

I try not to lump all people of a group under a generalization I get from dealing with a just a few assholes - but in here, it's really hard not to do that. =)

I get just that impression from Christians. I truly believe Christians can be some of the meanest people in the world. Just take the issue of gays and lesbians as an example. One only has to read some of the vicious remarks made against these people by supposedly good clean forgiving Christians against gays and lesbians right here in the Answers forum. I need no further proof than that. In fact if you read many responses to answers other than those directed against gay people the hatefulness of many Christians is displayed quite vividly. Seems to me if the Christian faith is all about forgiveness then there wouldn't be so much hate would there? An "eye for an eye" or "turn the other cheek". Which one should it be? "Forgive us our trespasses and those that trespass against us" or do we not? A very two faced group those Christians.

The reasons Christians try to spread the Gospel message of salvation is to give non-believers the information they need to make an informed decision about where they choose to spend eternity. I never try to force anyone to accept what I believe, but I try to spread the message wnenever possible. All we as Christians can do is sow the seeds and pray that they grow in a heart that is seeking answers. The choice is up to each person individually-Eternal life or eternal separation from Gods love.

Yes, if you believe that Christianity is true then you also believe that non believers go to hell... Since you continue to practice this religion despite this doctrine you are passively agreeing with it. You're simple participation in the religion signifies that you are ok with the doctrine of hell. It doesn't matter if you want people to suffer or not. You believe you are going to heaven while countless others will be sent to eternal torment, and you're ok with it.

"Believe that Christians want you to go to hell?"

No. That is a misunderstanding of the "want" here. What Christians want, in my humble opinion, is more Non-Christians to convert to Christianity.

One of the tools to achieve this end result is the "threat" of hell. It is the classic carrot and stick maneuver. You offer the carrot of heaven. Unfortunately, getting into heaven is highly conditional. No one knows who will be chosen as that is entirely up to the Judeo/Christian god. But heaven will be your reward, it is assured, if you follow the rules and regulations laid down in the bible. If you don't, or worse, if you are unable to accept the Christian religion, well, hell will be your eventual living location post death and post Armageddon.

What irks us Non-Christians, what ruffles our feathers, gets us a little hot under the collar, is the constant uttering the threat of hell by Christians. If you do not accept Jesus as your savior, if you do not follow to the letter the rules and regulations laid down in the bible, well then, eternity of excruciating suffering is in store for you.

Now. I do not have a problem with Christians believing in this myth. That is their prerogative, even if I find this mythological construct to be highly arrogant and a controlling recreation of the classic parent/child abusive relationship. My feelings and beliefs are my prerogative. Yours are yours. But it's the constant proselytizing of this myth as being fact that gets under my skin. I do not believe it. Cannot believe it. Why?

If there is an all powerful god that created and continues to run this universe, the very idea of this entity being at all concerned about whom I have sex with, what food I eat on a particular day, what clothing I wear - all the minute details of my daily existence - is frankly insane to me. It's foolishness in the extreme and very childish.

God, if god exists, has far better things to do with his/her time. This entity set the wheels in motion. It is up to us to create from this initial creation if that is in fact what happened here. Creating our reality is our ultimate test and all we were set here to do. That's it. Plain and simple. The rest, depending on your point of view, is gravy. Or icing. Or food poisoning.

From what Ive heard (from Christians)...I will be casted off to hell.....but what ever sin "they" commit will be forgiven as long as they ask for forgiveness........(up to and including murder and molestation)

I assure you I have committed less crimes than the average minister so I just don't understand the self-righteous and arrogance.....I asked a Christian this question (In a University setting) and I still didn't get a clear answer....other than God will forgive her, but not me.....and if that's true it seems as if he's betting on the wrong ones in most cases.....

Absolutely.
Yes, that is what I am hearing from Christians.
Because my beliefs differ from theirs, they want me to suffer.
They dangle the carrot of "convert and be saved", but then they make claims about there only being a limited number of places available in Heaven.
What am I to believe?
My attitude is that I am well served staying well clear.
I 'remain true' to me.
I master the tools of my life, as I have mastered myself.
I live well, I die well.
I'll see about this whole 'afterlife' thing when and if...

Well they sure send me a lot of hate mail threatening me with Hellfire and Damnation. So obviously, yes I do believe that some Christians do want that because they flat out tell me I deserve to burn in hell and call me an abomination.
