Do you feel that because you have Christ, you now have all the answers? If so, please develop a foolproof cure for cancer with no harmful side effects, kkplzthxbai! If you admit that you do not have all the answers, do you truly feel qualified to issue a decree on what the truth is (and expect people to commit their eternal future to the hope that you are right), based on the few questions that you do have answers to? And third, if you do feel qualified to do this, do you feel that you can do so in a loving way that sees the humanity deep within a person, or must you put on your holier-than-thou suit to stand in judgement over those who do not agree with you?
I know that not every Christian is "holier than thou" but many here are. I'm interested in why. I know that not every Christian feels that they know it all. I truly appreciate when Christians share their views and get people to think, but we can do so without being condescending to people who believe differently, can't we?

I am christian but I definitely don't think I have all the answers (sometimes I don't feel like I have any answers). I do feel qualified to DISCUSS (key word) my beliefs with others. As for people who are condescending I don't know who would accept the beliefs of some condescending, pompous jerk but did it ever occur to them that you catch more flies with honey than vinegar. Some people need to realize that the only person "holier than thou" is God.

You need to lay off the drugs and try living in the real world for awhile. If you truly want to know about God, then quit thinking you already know all you need to know and dismiss the possibility there is a God. Find a good Christian church (I would suggest Catholic Church ) and study what they believe. Then and only then could you make an informed decision about what true FAITH is all about. "The truth will set you free "
As for JOSHUAKA above ............Calm down now. Reach down and pull those tight drawers out of the crack of your butt and And don't bust a blood vessel. Yes it's ok just a little scratch. Now calmly go set in the chair by the front door. We are sending someone in a white suit for you. She will have something to calm your nerves

No, we don't have all the answers. I'd be a supercilious fool to think that. Fact is, by token of the Bible's teachings, Christians ought to be humble. And of course, many aren't - including me, on occasion. If offense was taken, I'm sorry. But I have to make this clear - it's not fair to point a finger at Christians. We all make the mistake of being a bit too sharp or coming across as condescending at some point, Christian or no. So I say - if everyone minds his/her tongue, the R&S section (and the world, for that matter) would be a prettier place. It all starts with you and me.

Are you kidding me... I know I know only a tiny bit of this world and it's knowlegde, but I do know that my God has ALL the answers. He gives me some of the answers to some question in his book and through what he has taught me over the year. I know I am not greater than anybody else. I am just as sinnful as other. I have disobeyed God many many times, so I am no better than anybody else. That's why I need a savior b/c I sure don't have it all together. Yes, I agree...I do get prideful and think that I am better than others, but that is a lie. I am no better than anybody else. Thankfully I am saved by the blood of Jesus, and I want everyone to be saved from the lake of fire. I am still going to tell others about my beliefs.

I certainly do not have all the answers, but I do find validity in the "some of the answers" which I have.
...and yes, these feelings should be shared in a way that is not "holier than thou." I mean, sharing my beliefs like that is pretty much useless - who would really want to listen to that?
Personally, my religion teaches me to seek out anything that is "virtuous, lovely, of good report, or praiseworthy," so I find it is worth my time and effort to find those things in any place or person that I can.

You are absolutely right about the people that think they are not sinners but hold it over other people when they don't follow their belief.
I am a Christian and my belief in being a Christian is to be; loving and forgiving and worshiping my God. Most of all I must act like that "Christ" to all of his Creation. He loves everyone and when someone says God doesn't love others, they are self righteous and wrong!
God gives all of his Kingdom a chance to believe in him or not. Why? Because he is a just God. No one will be able to stand and say: "Lord you didn't give me a chance to believe in your Son, Jesus." Why? Because we have free will to believe in Him or only believe in our self with no need for a creator, forgiveness or life everlasting. God still won't turn his back on us. But if we decide to turn away from Him, we will be on our own and dead to everything he promised the ones that follow Him.
Cure for the evil things in the world! I have no magic here or idea on how evil entered the world! Here is what I do know. Jesus will help me get through disease and evil with his help. He died on the cross so we will die of something too! We have to exit the world to gain entrance into the after life. We can be the best we can be and help others. Doctors, scientists, chemists, parents, teachers, etc help us with their God given talents but we will all die. We are finding ways to eliminate many diseases and God gave us that ability to do good because He is good and he promises us life.
So my apologies for the people that made you feel less than whole. God made you in the best image of your; model, race and creed.

Of course we can do so w/o being condescending.
I admit that I have not all the answers to everything. That's why I am studying molecular biology, and cancer study is drawing my attention. Truth is in the eye of the beholder. Any christian who has a holier than thou attitude is in denial. They should re-examine their lives. Christians may be confident in their beliefs, but that doesnt mean they know it all. One part of being a Christian is accepting the idea that we will never know everything. We have to have faith and trust in God.

Yes i believe that we have to develop a relationship before we can start sharing with people cause why would someone want to listen to someone they don't trust. But if we do have the answer than why not share it (Even if it is harsh). People need to hear the word so why not do it through yahoo answers. lol but seriously God says that with every chance we have we should take advantage of it.

I know I don't have all the answers, but I know Christ does.
I don't claim to be perfect, thats why I need a Savior.
Some Christians do not represent Christ in a Christ-like manner.
We are not to judge anyone, we don't know what will change in peoples lives.

I am a Christian and realize that I know less and less as I learn more and more.
Christians are called to live by example and be humble servants to others. We do not always succeed, but we try.
Becoming a Christian does not make you perfect or infallible, please do not expect perfection out of me or you will be disappointed.
We are on a journey, just like non-Christians are.
Peace and God Bless!
