Why would anyone want a DLP if you have to replace the lamp every 1 or 2 years?

I mean i know they are slightly cheaper but everntually it seems the price will catch up with you. Not to mention the hassle of changing the bulb.

If you want a really large screen at a reasonable price, the only way to get that is with a projection TV. These are either DLP or LCD nowadays, since CRT projectors are all but gone. Both types use projector lamps which eventually need replacement. The actual cost difference between operating a CRT projection TV and DLP/LCD is probably very little even if you include the cost of lamp replacement (roughly $200 for 2000 hours, or $0.10 an hour), since the tube TV uses more electricity.

You can replace the lamps 5 times before you offset the cost of a large size flat-panel TV.

They are a lot cheaper (based on screen size) even with the bulb replacement costs. On most of them it is very easy to replaced the bulbs so it is not really a big deal.

A BETTER QUESTION WOULD BE, WHY WOULD ANY ONE BUY A BIG BULKY TV THAT WHEN VIEWED OFF CENTER LOOK AWFUL?
