I found an A1 old film camera(i think it was made in 1978!), i was wondering, can i by any means convert the contents of the film to digitaL(meaning i put the pictures on my computer without scanning the printed pictures)?!?!?!

Well, you can't convert the camera itself to digital. You can't even use your FD mount lenses on a Canon digital SLR body - these all use the incompatible EF lens mount system.
But what you CAN do is scan the negatives. This will yield better quality than scannng prints.
As with everything, there are cheap negative scanners, mid-range models (Nikon makes some nice ones) and professional quality scanners, including drum scanners.
Photo labs can do this for you, too (either when you have your film developed, or afterwards.)

For old photos, you can either scan the printed photos or scan the negatives (if you can find them).

For new film that you're going to be developing, ask for a CD along with negatives and prints.
