how you ever stopped to think why christianity makes you so angry, why not the other religions? i mean no where in our faith our we suppose to hurt anyone or kill anyone(and im speaking of the new testament, i know things were different in the old one, but Christ's sacrifice changed all that), so its not like we would kill someone that wont except our beliefs( not a true christian). Jesus says to turn the other cheek, thats the real challenge( i still struggle with this one, but He is there for me when i fall). have you ever read any of the new testament? i used to think the bible was a bore and scary, but now i know its like a instruction booklet for how to live and wisdom for how to stay safe and how to treat others. and sooo much more. could it be you dont want to answer for the things you choose to do and be held accountable, cause you will even if you dont believe that. or something else?

because you try to shove it down non Christian's throat. and you say no where in your faith that it allows others to be hurt??? hmmmm tell me why tons of people died in the name of christian religion?? tell me why my grandfather's people were killed in the holocaust?? tell me why Europe was so anti Semitic and persecuted many Jews in the name of christian religion..so do not assume people are angry at christian religion because your religion is all that and a bag of chips..its a false made up religion that has caused tons of people to suffer.

You are correct that the Bible does include the idea of "turning the other cheek." However, very many Christians do not choose to do so... nor do many other people, I know. But perhaps it is the sheer... very visible hypocrisy of a good many Christians that alienates those who are not Christian. Yes, I have read the New Testament. And the Old. And parts of the Q'uran. And several other hopy texts. The problem is that while the holy texts of religions SAY one thing, many of the people who practice those religions DO another thing entirely.
Additionally, Christianity has made a habit of coming into a new area and treading on the beliefs and ways of those who already live there - absorbing the "best" parts into itself. I understand why - it is much like the Roman Empire in that way - it is a survival tactic. However, it does make for bad feeling when someone arrives and tells you that you are bad and wicked and sinful and all those who came before you are the same - merely because you do not do as the Christians do.
THAT is ongoing - is it the Christian political movement that has created so much furor in government about a good many things that SHOULD be purely personal decisions. It has become (and yes, this is an over-generalization, but it certainly seems this way) a matter of Christian = good and holy and patriotic, and everything else = wicked and sinful and anti-American. And THAT is another reason people are angry with Christianity.
Also, Christians turn on Christians. Church schisms, denominations picking on each other for slightly different beliefs.... how can anyone have respect for a religion that can't even agree with itself? (This applies to most religions, I know).
The bottom line is - people don't like being told they are evil and wicked because they are not Christians and don't think like Christians. You would feel the same way, wouldn't you?

I am not a big fan of your religion and some of the followers of your religion. Your religion is an outright insult to humanity and then some of your followers harass others and spread the insults to everybody else which makes it ten times worse. And you damn sure aren't helping the cause either. If you and people who act like you would stop harassing others and jamming your beliefs down other people's throat then I could care less what religion you are or follow. But don't feel bad i have a problem with any religion that has to proselytize.

I think most people aren't angry at christianity. People are angry at christians who say that there are no wisdom in any other religion than christianity and that it is the only way to God. Which in my opinion isn't true. You seem to have a very good out look on things. The God you believe in is the same one i believe in and i am not a Christian. But a child of God as Jesus said.

I am angry at people within ALL religions. It isn't just Christianity.... BUT! Christianity is the majority where I live, so it's easy to pinpoint people within that religion.
Instead of telling us about what your faith is supposed to be... why not try telling those Christians who don't follow it?
I have read the entire Bible at least 3 times. I own it in Greek and Hebrew and own Lexicons for both. I studied with Jews, JW's and several other sects that are connected to the Bible.
I hold myself accountable for my own actions and words. SO no, it's not that I don't want to answer for these things. I most certainly do. Please don't assume so much of other people... you do realize this makes you guilty of the very thing you are holding us for.... Generalizations of everyone who is "angry at Christianity" without even knowing WHY people are angry.... Could it be it's this type of thing that makes us Non's angry?

This is very very true. I don't believe in god I do believe in Jesus that he was a person who wanted and helped changed the world. The bible although not all real in my opinion does have very helpful tips on how to live life. People get mad at religion because it is against what they believe. Everyone thinks what they believe is right hence why they believe it. When someone that you don't even know comes along and tells you that your wrong most people get mad. I see both peoples points in this because the people that don't believe say stop trying to make me and the bible tells you to try to make people believe.
good question

I'm not angry at Christianity. I don't share the beliefs. Period. I spent many years in the religion. It just doesn't make sense. I don't care that others follow the beliefs....that's fine for them. If they are following what you're suggesting, there shouldn't be a problem. However, you have many that aren't. You have Christians with a holier than thou attitude, walking around condemning everyone who doesn't follow the beliefs. That is the only time I get irritated.

Simple; it's one of the forms of checks and balances; in early christians history, christians were being prosecuted by rome, then when christians fought to be recognize, they came into power. Once in power, the christians started to prosecute or to forceable convert by spreading the word; the Mid Evil Times, is one of the bloodies times for christian history. Now when our fore fathers decided to keep goverment and religion separate (not just christians but any religion) from gainning to much power. That is what people with common sense fear, the fear of any religion, the fear of HISTORY REPEATING IT'S SELF, and now some christian groups have and still are doing, which is prosecuting the old pagan
and new pagan religions. Example, bill O'reilly and Rush Lim-
people in power with strong christian faith, bad mouthing everything that they don't believe is right. Now here is a question, is history starting to repeat it self again?
Answer to your question is: Fear, the fear of their bloodly history repeating it's self, and the people with common sense are just making sure it is in check.

Personally I despise all religions but Christianity is the local one and therefore the one that effects my life the most. It could just as easily have been Islam, but I give no special treatment to other religions. They're all the same to me.
I despise them because they aren't factual, and yet their adherents want to legislate morality based on the nonsense their religion teaches. That's crossing the line.
They also want to hypocritically take advantage of science by benefiting from scientific advancement, but the instant science tells them something that contradicts their religion they're ready to put up a fight. That's incredibly irksome.

"so its not like we would kill someone that wont except our beliefs( not a true christian). "
True Christian is a Logical Fallacy. It doesn't exist. So many people bandy this phrase about. Anytime someone doesn't do what they would do, they're labelled as being "not a true Xian." The thing about that is that since so many people are putting these labels out...there's no such thing as a True Christian.
Have you ever looked at Xian behavior and wondered why they're are despised by so many? How about the guy who just said he'd like to punch all atheists in the stomach in his question. R.J., I think his name was. You can label him "not a true Xian" all you like, but the fact is that his relationship with his god is not your responsibility to judge. He says he's Xian...therefor he is Xian.
Instead of aiming this at non-christians...why don't you clean up your own house and deal with these people you deem to be "not true Christians". Because they think they are Xian, and they're awfully vocal for speaking up for their cause.

So you're saying that because Christians are supposed to behave themselves, our anger at them can't be because of how they really behave, so it must be something about us? And then you write
"could it be you dont want to answer for the things you choose to do and be held accountable, cause you will even if you dont believe that. or something else?"
Perhaps you should face up to the fact that we're angry at Christians because they're so addicted to telling this particular lie about us. Doesn't the fact that you have to constantly lie about atheists in order to defend your religious belief tell you something about the quality of your religious belief? You just clearly reinforced my belief that religious belief serves largely as an excuse to avoid being accountable for your behavior.
You want to be judged on how you're supposed to act, not on how you really act. How convenient.
If you can't act in a civil manner, just go away.
