With creationism and ID being all the rage, there must be some really stinging rebuttals to The Blind Watchmaker describing all the science that has gone in to proving that *indeed*, ID or creationism is most certainly the origin of species. Anybody got any names of books (or better yet, links to the books on Amazon)? Summer is approaching and I need to stock that reading list.

Hey, seriously, I read Genesis once and it's really just the germ of the *cough* science of ID. What I think is that with school boards talking about "presenting all sides of the arguments" there must be some decent textbooks produced that present that balanced view, right? It's real, isn't it? The defenders of ID/creationism wouldn't just criticize without having a good published, peer reviewed, verified body of science to back them up, would they?
No, "read genesis" won't win you the 10 pts.

You mean science textbook?
Any science text book that claims that the universe is 6,000 years old has got a *lot* of 'splainin' to do. :-)
It has to develop a whole new theory of radioactivity that explains radiometric data.
It has to come up with a better theory than Einstein's about the speed of light (to explain the light reaching us from millions of light years away).
It has to come up with a better explanation of plate tectonics to explain geological features.
It has to rewrite cosmology, astrophysics, astronomy, geology, minerology, paleontology, archaeology, paleontology, genetics, microbiology, anatomy, and the laws of physics.
Hope you have a long summer because that's going to be one FAT textbook.

This is the best resource by far besides the Bible for creationism. Its premise basically is that science proves evolution, etc wrong all on its own. It goes beyond creationism as well.

It has a bookstore so I'm sure you can find something good to read, there are tons of online articles and online study courses.

I haven't found one. When I searched, to try to get a better understanding of it (you can't say something is wrong without understanding it, in my lowly opinion), all I find are websites with people who do NOT have degrees in this (some don't even have degrees at all!) claiming that Evolution is wrong because the Bible says God made man. Now, I'm not a wiz with Scientific Theories/Laws... actually, I'd have to say I'm handicapped in that area at times, but even I know you can't base "fact" on "well, this book says it's true, it must be! cause I believe this book" Hell, that would make Unicorns, Dragons, etc all real... all I have to do is find a book that speaks of these things in a Religious context and claim it as Absolute Truth. *Sigh* =)

The Case for a Creator is a great place to start. If you're looking for Young Earth creationism, you're on your own. Reasons to Believe (www.reasons.org) has published many books that may be of interest to you, and they carry many books in their online store that would be helpful. RTB is NOT YEC, so you'll be disappointed if your looking for that stuff.

If you check this web:
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_hp/002-0600797-4402460?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=creationist+text+books&Go.x=8&Go.y=14
you'll probably find something interesting. It belongs directly to Amazon.
Let me tell you, however, that whether a pro-creationist or a pro-evolutionist, it does not matter too much, for in the end we have to reach the conclusion that the Universe and everything it contains, was created by a supreme power we call God.
