I'm going travelling for a year, Kenya, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand and Fiji. I have a list of about 10 vacinations it is recommended I get, but I'm the type of person who does not even like to take asprin. What vacinations are crucial and what can I do without? I don't want to risk my health. My doctors surgery doesn't offer travel advice.

I know I have to have the Yellow Fever jab because Australia won't let me in without it.

yes you do need those vaccines. the best prevention for any disease is immunization aka vaccines. you will be travelling to foreign countries and you wouldn't know what sickness you may catch. it's better safe than sorry. you don't have to take all those vaccines at the same time.you may just get about 2 every other day. in our country, the must-have vaccines are those against: hepatitis B, mumps, tetany, poliomyelitis, tuberculosis, to name a few. the must-have vaccines differ in each country. like here, babies are given vaccine against tuberculosis since it's common disease here. point being, you don't know the diseases you'd encounter in the countries you'd visit, so better follow what vaccines you were recommended to have.

have the vaccinations the suggest its for a reason.im going to thailand and i have to have them as well. also if you dont have certain vacinations they wont let you into the country. brazil and kenya suffer from something called yellow fever which you get if a monkey bites you.in thailand they wont let you in if you have come from an infected area such as brazil and kenya if you dont have a certificate to prove you have had a jab.

Look up info on the diseases on your recommended list. Most have no really good treatment once the disease is acquired, yet they can be prevented by vaccine.

I would definitely get protected against Hepatitis A and B as well as against Yellow Fever.

Really? You don´t want to risk your health? Then: have them all......you will spend some money in prevention, but nothing in an illness that can take your life away....
Get all the vaccinations and enjoy your trip!

Whatever your travel agent or public health representative says is recommended.

I would get the vaccinations. See if their are combination vaccines that could lessen the amount of shots you would get.

do you prefer a simple jab or get really sick and almost die in a foreign hospital where your family can't visit you easily.

It doesn't hurt - honest
