the only smart thing he did was walk out. i've had this happen at my pharmacy before and after finding out from the doctor that the patient forged it, i called the police! my incident though the guy was so doped out he was still sleeping in the waiting room when the police showed up. as long as your friend never goes back to that pharmacy he should be fine. it's highly unlikely that the pharmacist will have the cops go to his house or anything, it's just not worth the trouble on our end.

Bad idea on your friend's part. Did he leave the 'script with the pharmacy or did he take it with him? The pharmacy is required to confirm all prescriptions for specific medications with the doctor to avoid exactly what your friend was trying to do. This is considered fraud and if he was dumb enough to leave the prescription he will likely get busted.

My sister in-law did the same thing for a Valium script. She altered it to a nonexistant Valium dosage. She didnt walk away...but that doesnt matter ,they will find him/her and be charged with altering a prescription. In our state (Utah) it is a felony. I would assume if it is for a narcotic/controlled substance the charges will be more harsh. He should just turn himself in, it will happen eventually and it will make him look better in the long run.
