Almost, but it was likely a few years after 1914. Jehovah's Witnesses believe that the "second coming" of Jesus began in 1914, and the years between 1914 and Armageddon constitute a "harvest time".
Jehovah's Witnesses believe that several bible prophecies point out that when Christ's so-called "second coming" began, it would mean a refinement and a responsibility for a single human channel to take the lead proclaiming the will of God and Christ. It does seem notable that no other religion has ever been able to approach the scope of the preaching work performed by Jehovah's Witnesses, and interestingly that has been true at least since the early 1920's.
Jehovah's Witnesses believe the bible to teach that soon after Christ sits on his heavenly throne (in 1914), Jehovah would chastise all of Christianity as relative do-nothing enemies of bible truth. Even Jehovah's Witnesses of the time were chastised.
(Isaiah 66:5-6) Hear the word of Jehovah, you men who are trembling at his word: “Your brothers that are hating you, that are excluding you by reason of my name, said, ‘May Jehovah be glorified!’ He must also appear with rejoicing on your part, and they are the ones that will be put to shame.” There is a sound of uproar out of the city, a sound out of the temple! It is the sound of Jehovah repaying what is deserved to his enemies.
The judgment that leads to Armageddon would have its earliest beginning with professed Christians. World War 1 had helped prove Christendom's complicity and bloodguilt.
(1 Peter 4:17) For it is the appointed time for the judgment to start with the house of God. Now if it starts first with us, what will the end be of those who are not obedient to the good news of God?
Before his departure from the earthly scene, Jesus had described himself as "a man about to travel abroad". He plainly spoke about what he would do when he "returned". Since Jehovah's Witnesses had carefully utilized all that Jesus had provided (the bible, holy spirit), they believe themselves to be the "good and faithful slave" with five talents.
(Matthew 25:14-21) For it is just as when a man, about to travel abroad, summoned slaves of his and committed to them his belongings. ...After a long time the master of those slaves came and settled accounts with them. So the one that had received five talents came forward and brought five additional talents, saying, ‘Master, you committed five talents to me; see, I gained five talents more.’ His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful slave! You were faithful over a few things. I will appoint you over many things. Enter into the joy of your master.’
According to this understanding, Christendom's eighteen centuries of occasional usefulness had come to an end. The world's so-called "Christian" churches saw all of Christ's blessings shift to Jehovah's Witnesses in 1918.

The thing about Russell, which by the way celebrated Christmas, bithdays, and believed in pyramid power, is, he had the chronology correct.
He was wrong about the physical, earthly occurrences of the prophecies.
But as it stands, Christ did begin to reign in 1914, Babylon the Great did fall short in 1919, and God's Kingdom began to rule.
It took decades of ardent work for the 'Bible Students', to develop the doctrines the Jehovah's Witnesses have today. Most of which they still hold currently.
The parts of Russells works that are correct are still held to. The parts that are not still have a lesson to them one way or the other.
Unlike Christendom, which continue to teach and preach Babylonian dead works, and Hellenistic religions, regardless how easy it is to show that's what they are---The Jehovah's Witnesses will correct beliefs when necessary when new findings call for it.
After all, that's the only way, one can say they have the truth that leads to everlasting life.

Will J. Why do you continue to attack Jehovah's earthly Organization? I asked you before what church you attend and I never got a response. Jehovah and his Organization will endure forever. No man can stop it. Sure mistakes were made in the early History of Jehovah's Witnesses but changes were made. Like I said before I searched and searched before I found the truth. I prayed long and hard to Jehovah through Jesus and I found the truth. Churches today remove Jehovah's name from worship, teach the trinity when the word is not even found in the bible, and so on.Lets talk about the scriptures and where Jehovah's Organization is at today.

Old news, witnesses also was involved in holidays and politics, but they moved beyond them, while other religions continued to fall even deeper.
Besides, every church now acknowledges 1914 was the start of the signs of the last days and the second coming of Christ. The problem with that is if you buy an Interlinear Greek Translation of the New Testament, you find that it actually means presence.

it truly is a sturdy question. this might by some ability help the asker and others to appreciate what “return” meant in Jesus’ words. The Greek notice used replaced into “parousia” or presence. Abernathy has responded the question basic and easy. yet i think of the asker will reject what's implied by ability of the notice “return,” inasmuch as he has rejected the different implications of notice “worship.” (Matthew 18:26 vs Matthew 4:10). For them, the notice “worship”s interior the Bible have one that ability. So i think of they have comparable discernment with the notice “return” interior the Bible. =) Addt: The apostles asked Jesus: "what could be the sign of your coming," (Matthew 24:3). If Jesus' coming is seen, why might the apostles ask for signs and warning signs? what's using signs and warning signs if Jesus' coming could be easily seen? Luke 17:20 extra says: "the dominion of God does not contain remark" Addt: signs and warning signs? i'm specific the asker know what those signs and warning signs are. (Matthew 24:3-14). those signs and warning signs became strongly obvious on account that 1914. Even secular/non-JW commentators and historians view 1914 as a unexpected replace and a considerable turnng poingt in human historical past. yet i think of the asker does no longer settle for this fact, yet particularly stay to tell the tale differences made by ability of JWs. lower back, if Jesus' coming could be for sure seen, why might the apostles ask for signs and warning signs?

You seem to have a fixation on Jehovah's Witnesses. So why not speak to them when they call on you and bring these very questions to them.
At least you will know they are genuine and will be able to guide you to the answers you seemingly want to know.

I guess that you are highlighting a failed prophecy? You will only get peace when you accept that The almighty put the laws of nature in place and then left mankind on auto pilot. It is ridiculous to think that He plays such a great part in the everyday affairs of mankind. All religion is like Rice Crispies. . you need snap crackle and pop to make it sell
