Body aches all over could be a sign of a bad mattress, arthritis, allergies or any number of things. Start by examining your bedroom and mattress and pillow etc and be sure you only use your bedroom for sleep. Next try taking ibuprofen or naproxen at bedtime to see if this helps. If that doesn't do it be sure you have a good air purifier in your room to help clean the air. You may want to ask your doctor if they would consider a sleep study for you to try to help figure out what is going on.

Hi Mr. Magoo. Obviously, your problem is not 'stress'. Your problem is creating stress!

Your symptoms can be very difficult to 'figure out'. Some possible causes include:

1) Bacterial toxins from a root canal or extracted tooth (resulting in low-grade bone infections in the mouth).

2) Mold allergies.

3) Heavy metal toxcities (lead, mercury, cadmium, etc.).

4) Intestinal dysbiosis - an imbalance or overgrowth of bacteria in the gut producing toxins that are absorbed into the body. This condition is often caused by use of antibiotics or acid-inhibiting drugs.

5) Food intolerances/allergies.

7) Nutritional deficiencies/imbalances - these are soooooo common today. Examples include deficiencies of vitamins D, B12, and others and deficiencies of minerals such as: magnesium, zinc, calcium, potassium, etc.

You will need to find a knowledgeable health professional to help you evaluate these possible causes of your suffering. Look for a Naturopathic Physician, nutrition oriented Chiropractor, or that rare medical doctor trained in environmental medicine and/or functional medicine.

I would also like to suggest a couple of books that can help you begin to understand about these (and other) causes of your types of symptoms. The books are written by a leading medical doctor in the field of environmental medicine and nutritional biochemsitry, Sherry Rogers, M.D. The books are:

1) "Pain Free in 6 Weeks"

2) "Detoxify or Die".

They are available at Amazon.com. I highly recommend them.

For information on the dental possibilities as a cause of your symptoms (have you had any recent dental work???), I recommend "The Roots of Disease: Connecting Dentistry and Medicine" by Robert Kulacz, D.D.S. and Thomas Levy, M.D.

Best wishes and good luck.

I feel like there is missing pieces you didn't disclose here however I will give you the benefit of the doubt first and play devils advocate later.

If you feel your doctor isn't listening to you then find another doctor. Exercising will make you feel bad at first, especially if its not something you do regularly and you are not in shape. Are you getting adequate rest? Balanced nutrition? Try soaking in a hot-tub and relaxing.

Now for the devils advocate. If the doctor ran a series of test and everything came back negative then it really is stress or could be a psych issue, not saying your nuts but certain imbalances cause the same symptoms. I know people are going to disagree with this but Fibromyalgia is a psych issue. Its the diagnosis used by doctors when they have ran all the test everything comes back clean and you still complain of issues.

My body aches every morning as well, I have bought new (very expensive) mattresses and they did not help. Here is what I have found out...
1. My syatic(sp?) nerve causes the pain through my hips and legs.

2. I have arthritis in my lower back and neck, this was caused my playing sports and toting around my children.

I have found what helps me the most is not excersing in a gym, but walking about a 3 miles a day. It took about a week for me to start feeling better, but it does ease the pain.

I also changed my posistion when I sleep. sleeping on my back or stomach causes me to hurt more in the morning so I sleep on my side.

The Ibprofren and naproxen help if you take them right before bed. The naproxen is the best choice however, it takes a few days to get in your system.

There is a medicine called Lyrica, that helps joint pain. Ask your doctor about that. IT REALLY WORKS!

Hope this helps, I know it can make you miserable!

Hi - sometimes doctors need a lot of persuading that something is wrong. Some of it could be down to an underlying depression, it may surprise you. However, fibromyalgia is a possibility, and if you feel tired all the time, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome may be a possibility. My best suggestion would be to see a registered homeopath, who will look at the whole picture of you and treat you either constitutionally ie. your whole general wellbeing or just for your aches and pains. It certainly worked for my headaches and fatigue and made me feel a lot better in myself. You may have to try a few different remedies but definitely worth a try. Best of luck.

you must stop exercising if you feel body aches..the more you exercise the more you strain your muscles..it'll just worsen your condition, especially if you feel sick. you need rest, plenty of fluids, lots of vit. C (like oranges, fruit juices)..medications are not actually necessary, except when you want quick relief. the body ache may stay for a couple of days, but just rest it..it'll go away..or if you want, you can take analgesics to remove the aches..if it's just mild to moderate pain, then paracetamol or ibuprofen would do..don't take aspirins..they're no good..they will irritate your stomach...and make your blood thinner, therefore you might be prone to bleeding..

and no, you don't have to die for docs to take you seriously

Try going to a different doctor. The first doctor I went to see was too stupid to recognise the onset of MS and was completely disinterested. A few days later I went to see a second doctor at the same surgery and she packed me off to the hospital where I stayed for two weeks.

i used to feel like that. it got ridiculous. until one day i heard that my sinus infection was most probably brought on by depression. and then i thought: "that's crazy. i am only depressed because i feel unwell. now my depression is making me feel unwell?" so i decided to try to end the cycle. i'm still a bit of an idiot sometimes but generally doing much better. i just make sure i get up in the morning no matter how i feel. and i think now, put myself in the shoes of someone who has aids or terminal cancer. how annoying would it be for them to think of someone healthy who's trying to find something wrong with them. how happy they would be to be in our positions.
also what hit home was the film "joe vs. the volcano". it might depress the sh*t out of you, but if you can look at the underlying message you might feel uplifted as i did... :)
hope you feel better soon. just remember that you're not nuts.

are you eating properly? maybe you need a dry snack before bed, either way you have every right to inform your doctor that his reply is not good enough and you either want a second opinion, a referral or a new doctor, make sure you see any referral letter so he doesn't put in any negative feedback on who you are etc, so they dont dismiss your concerns...you have every right to see your patient notes and can apply for this info, don't give up-he is not allowed to ignore your problem and tell him so.

Try some other doctor and let us know what tests if any have been done. After you die, there is no need to take the dead body seriously!
