The only difference between that Personal and the Profession version of Vista is that the Personal version is not able to join a "domain", a type of computer network only found in businesses. Because Pro can join a domain, it includes some additional security features for domains.

So for "home" usage, you can go with the Personal Edition, or use the Pro edtiton. But for business you would need the Pro edition.

There are Personal Editions and more Security Based Corporate Versions. Cost goes up with features
Be sure to check the Life Support before buying. Some of the lower end versions only get 5 years of support. Others are 10 years.

My opinion? Tools. Vista isn't worth anywhere near what they're asking for it. Take my advice, stick to XP or get a Mac.
