Use an oil free moisturizer. Bee-Luscious Cosmetics by beeroyalproducts.com has an oil free moisturizer, one for day and one for night, made specifically for acne prone skin.

Arbonne has a great NutriMinC Re9 Anti-Aging Day Creme with an SPF of 8 and an Intelligence Daily Moisturizer. Arbonne's products are pure, safe, beneficial, made with natural botanicals, and made with exceptionally high EUROPEAN STANDARDS of quality. They contain nanosphere technology that helps the product to adjust to your specific skin type (applying more moisture is dry areas and less in oily areas) - great for combination, oily, dry, and acne skin. The products are also water based and actually penetrate the dermis rather then just sitting on the top layer of the skin. This is most beneficial and will not cause your skin to look or feel greasy. I use the day creme ever day and I love it. If you're interested in learning more, you can visit the wesite below or email me and I'll be happy to help you.

It's really important to get a good cleanser as well as a good moisturiser.

I have skin very similar to yours. The best cleanser on the market is Eve Lom cleanser, but it's very expensive. If you have the money, it's worth giving it a go - it cured my acne. You could also try taking evening primrose oil capsules if you're female. This helps regulate your hormones and, if your acne is related to your hormonal cycle, it may be help clear it up.

A mid-price skincare option is the Dr Hauschka range. I really recommend this: the products are organic and excellent for sensitive or acne-prone skin. There is a lovely facewash which I suggest you follow with their excellent non-astringent clarifying toner for greasy skin, and then the day oil. Facial oils are fantastic for oily skin. I know it sounds counterintuitive, but give it a go. The problem with normal or oil-free moisturisers is that they clog the pores and strip oil from the skin. This actually stimulates excess oil production, which is probably why your dry skin becomes oily. Using a facial oil prevents excess oil production in the first place. You may have to try a few before you find one that suits you: I think Aromatherapy Associates and Nuxe are among the companies that make them.

You need to persist for a week or two with facial oils before they start making a difference and your skin gets used to them, but they do help a lot in the long run.

Meanwhile, I would avoid moisturising at night at all, because your skin needs to go through natural processes of renewal at night without loads of gunk on it. However, if your skin feels dry and tight without moisturiser at night, try one of Eve Lom's creams, or a facial serum from any company.

If you are really on a budget, I have one rule of thumb. Stick to the simplest products you can find with the fewest ingredients. Many high-street products are full of all sorts of preservatives and additives, and in many cases these cause, rather than solve, skin problems. Good, cheap products include Pond's, Simple, Neutrogena, Johnson & Johnson, etc.

Good luck with all of this - I hope it helps!

I cannot remember the exact name of the moisturizer, but it is made by Garnier. I believe it may be called "Pure" and it has a clay compound in it.

I have combo skin too and was always battling between the need for moisture and the breakouts that were caused by the excess moisture.

This one has worked perfectly for me so far.

The added benefit is that the clay compound in it will help hide oil during the day.

If you wear make up it is always better to have a moisturizer under your foundation to prevent breakouts as well.

Try St Ives Cucumber & Elastin Eye & Face Stress Gel. It works on combo skin like yours and is not greasy at all. It's very reasonably priced. I love the stuff!
