if FREE classes on nutrion and diet workshops were made available to parents? I was flipping thru the channels and came across the maury show where the subject is overweight kids and it got me thinking about a good portion of kids as well as adults in our society.
I'm not putting down parents with chunky kids, my eldest was a chunky kid because I gave him "comfort" foods to make myself feel better. He was 30 lbs by the time he wa 6 months old but I rectified it almost as soon as it started.

I'm not saying it's all bad parenting because I know a few people who it is hereditary, I'm talking about people who live at McDonald's or the quickie pop tart breakfast. I'm also refering to the parents who think they are feeding their kids correctly but are doing it wrong. Lord knows I would love it if I could afford to pay someone to teach me proper diets but I can't and the more I read the more confusing it gets. One says no carbs, another says no carbs, at one point eggs were bad now they are good. I'm lucky, my kids are slender but I can't take any of the credit, I chalk it up to execellent metabolisms. Mind you, I keep the junk to the bare min. plus have plenty of fruits and vegi's for snacks and do my best to prepare healthy meals and don't allow soda but I def. have no idea if that is even remotely right.

Heck, I eat what they eat and spend physical quality time with them (hikes, playing sports, etc.) but I am pretty darn big. I didn't realise it until recently but I am actually obese (5'2" at 190 lbs).

sounds good in theory but i doubt it. nutrition info is only part of the problem. many adults use food to comfort themselves so it naturally becomes normal for them to use it with their kids. if the people feeding the kids have an issue,be it emotional or whatever, it won't help to just teach them about nutrition. they need other help as well. their are others still who would rather give their kids a cookie and a tv than spend time on something constructive or physical. i'm not bashing people with overweight kids either. i'm just saying there is more to this problem than meets the eye.

Yes. You are the mother. You do the shopping. Don't buy potato chips, cookies, etc.
Cook protein with a starch, and veggies. For desert let them have fruit. Keep healthy snacks in the house, and serve normal size portions. Use Pam instead of oil to fry their eggs.
It is up to you. It is all a matter of learning to eat healthy, and then eventually it just becomes a way of life.
Good luck.

My first question could be how do you recognize a guy purely "interior the path of the telephone." which ability how do you recognize he's an easily boy and not a guy pretending to be a boy. i ought to sound like i'm being extreme, yet i've got seen it take place. wherein case this would possibly not be the main secure subject so be careful. on condition that he's a real boy. purely be your self. the priority is, you could take as many pictures that "make you look skinny" as you go with to, yet you certainly need this boy, any boy, to love you for you. no count what length you're.

If people want nutrition information they can pretty well find it for free between the internet and the library. So, no, I don't think classes would help because either the motivation is there or it isn't.
I recommend the Blood Type diet (ala Dr. Peter D'Adamo). You have to pay attention to what you eat, even among "healthy" selections.

Having been born to parents who were obese, I am almost insulted that most would attribute it to bad parenting. Some overweight people are that way due to genetics. My parents were overweight and my father died at 54 from obesity. My entire family are heavy and does it hurt our family yes. We don't like how we are but in our family it's genetic. Before you go jumping the gun and blaming parents people, you need to look at the whole picture. I have seen skinny parents stuff food in the mouth of a child to shut them up because they wimper and it annoys them. What I am saying is not all fat people choose to be fat. I had surgery to get rid of some of my weight and it has worked for me but no diet I tried worked. My mother, father grandmother and brothers and sisters are all overweight to the extreme. Are we happy by far, yes, we are Godly people. We live a clean life. No all heavy people are lazy as some would suggest. Just wanted to fill in the gaps.

I do think there should be classes available at school, etc. for parents and children but parents should insist on that starting with school lunches, It is horrible what they serve them
But I also believe it is common sense to watch what your kids eat and provide healthy things for them.
When I was growing up, we never had snacks, cakes, etc in our house only fruits and ice/cream on occasion.
therefore we didn't ahve a choice but not to eat that way and I am grateful for it.
There are choices-parents don't seem to take the right ones when it comes to eating habits and when that happens you are setting your kid up for a lifetime of struggle and pain

It really couldn't hurt. But someone needs to also offer advice on when tpddlers start to be picky. Have you noticed how many people say that their toddlers will only eat some sort of junk. As if the toddler was going to the store and getting it themselves.

Yes i think that it is a lot of bad parenting. With fruits and veggies and exercise there shouldn't be a lot of overweight kids. Yes some of it is hereditary but you can also exercise more and watch what is eaten and keep that under tabs.
