Every time I play a game like Halo, or Prince of Persia, or C&C Generals, I have a problem with the video. Everytime there is a video scene in the game, it always slow down and sort of skips. The sound with it too. But when I'm playing the game, it's normal. The gameplay is smooth and there's no problem.

This problem happened when I recently bought a barebone computer(has only the motherboard and CPU). I put in the hardrives and video card and all that stuff from my old computer.

Here's the specs:
Intel pentium D 3.4 GHZ
1 gb DDR memory
Radeon 9250 video card
2 IDE harddrives 20/40 gb

Help me pleaseee

none of this is working. here i can rule out some other the things that aren't causing the problem

1.Not CD, cuz some game that i don't run off CD drive have the same problem.
2. Not memory, on my old computer using the same video card and hard drives but with only 512 ram the videos played fine
3.not junk files and background programs, i set my firefox browser to clear all temp data and stuff everytime i close firefox. the only program i have in the background is sound driver and video driver and norton
4.Not CPU, ran fine on my old comp, only had 2 GHZ

could there be some kind of compatibility issue with the new computer?

No mystery here. Games are primarily graphics. Graphics consume memory. You seem to have a lot of memory - but how much of it is free? Check these things out:

- Many users are not aware of how much RAM is used by wallpaper and/or a screensaver full of graphics. They run in the background and consume memory. (I have only 512mb RAM, run multiple programs simultaneously, and have set my wallpaper and screensaver to blank.)

- How many programs do you load at startup? Maybe you should check it out and ensure you are running just what you need.
To do this: cl Start, cl Settings, cl Taskbar and Start Menu.
cl Start Menu, cl Customize, cl Remove.
cl the icon for the program you wish to remove
then cl Remove.
There is also a “Disable All” button.
This will prevent the program from loading at startup, but will not remove the program from the hard disk.

When you are working in a large file, save frequently to restore full memory access. (Your work remains in memory until you “save” it to disk.)

Did you run an error check? Open My Computer,
Right-cl on C:, Select Properties, Tools – Run an Error Check ( checkmark “check all and fix); then run a Defrag

Are you using Yahoo Toolbar? Run a full Norton Antispy.

From IE, click Tools, Internet Options
delete cookies
delete files (offline files)
clear history (set days to save to 0 if you want)
click o.k., and Restart

click Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools – run Disk Cleanup

click Start, Run ipconfig renew (type ipconfig space renew)

All these things should be done regularly. The more frequently they are run, the less time they take.
Note: Games and videos are mostly graphics. Graphics create large files. If this doesn’t help, you should consider getting more memory.

From my experience when a video loads in a game it loads from the CD. If you are only having problems loading the videos the problem could possibly be your CD Drive.

It must be a problem with the CD. If your system couldn't run those games, then it would have been the other way.

Depends on what is running in the background and what in the foreground.

either more memory or the video card is broken

My only guess is a lack of RAM. Or that ^.
