Hey guys. I recently got someone else's fresh blood on my hand, and now I am freaking out that that blood may have been HIV positive. There were no open cuts or sores on my hand, and after seeing it I did not touch anything else, washed the hand with soap in pipping hot water, poured some bleach on the area and washed it again with soap and hot water. I then washed both my hands like I would normally. I know I should go get teste just in case, but assuming the blood was HIV positive, am I at any risk? Is there any chance of the virus still being alive on my hand? Can I do normal things like take a shower and touch other things, or will I get the virus on other things that I touch, or to other parts of my body in the shower with the water?
Please help I am kind of freaking out...

Hi Bob! Wow no elaborate scenario about how the blood got on you! and this time it is fresh. Nice change! You already know the answer to this, it is the same as usual.
I am still gonna recommend a bubble suit and some Prozac, though.
For the fresh blood part, which is new, but the lack of scenario I am going to rate this question a 4. Have a good week!

Hi there,

Please relax. As others have mentioned, you can not contract hiv that way. First of all you are assuming that the person did in fact have hiv. If the person did and you got blood on your hand without open cuts or sores you are fine. HIV is a fragile virus and pretty much dies upon contact with air. So if the person did have hiv, the virus would be dead upon contact with your hand. What you need to do though is read up on stds including hiv. These diseases are going to be around for a long time still. Knowing how they are transmitted and how to protect yourself may help with future needless worrying.

Cheers.

Yeah, You're Fine! My Guess Is It Will Be Blood Just Inside Of Your Vagina, That has Dried Out, The When The Fresh Blood Came Through It Brought The Old Blood With It, When You Wash Yourself Try To Wash Quite Close To The Hole, (Sounds Rude, Sorry) To Make Sure You Clean Yourself Thoroughly.

The HIV virus can only live for 72 hours outside the body. So assuming this happend 3 days ago it seems you are okay. I don't think you contracted anything. You must have gotten the blood into an open wound to be at risk. Did you rub your eyes? nose? mouth? when the incident happend? That may be cause for alarm, but from what you are telling me I assume you are fine. Get a blood test to calm your fears.

The virus could not enter you body unless you had a scratch or break in the skin. Washing and bleach (BTW that wasn't a great idea as it could actually damage the skin and make you more vulnerable!) will have got rid of any virus. get tested anyway, just to put your mind at rest.

You will not get HIV from this blood as it didn't have any place to enter your blood stream. Also DO NOT use bleach on your skin or even use it in your house as it is toxic and can cause respiratory problems. You are fine so quit freaking out and get on with your life.

just relax, lets just say it WAS hiv positive. you stated you had no open cuts or soars near the area. SO there is no possible way you could get infected unless you make contact through your mouth or private area. You can only contract it if it went through those areas or an openm cut or soar. you have no reason to be worried. go get yourself tested just ot be safe.

Stop freaking. You washed that area so thoroughly that the virus would have got washed off. So, stop worrying. And get tested if you can't stop worrying.
