First you asked about walking for Jesus. Then, you asked about walking for an evangelist. Those are definitely not the same thing. I hope and pray that when Jesus comes again, I will have the faith and fortitude of spirit to walk 444 miles, or whatever it takes, for Him. But... I do not think it's impressive to walk 444 miles even for an inspirational evangelist. That puts the focus on who the evangelist is and takes it off his message... which should be about the majesty of God and His only son Jesus Christ. No mortal man is worthy of such adoration. In fact, it's quite dangerous to look to mortal men in this way. Walking so far for a mere man seems more like an unspoken, deeply-desguised idolatry. Now, if you asked if I'd walk 444 miles to hear the Word of God or to fetch a bible because there was not one in my remote village... then, Yes! I would do that. The point is that I would be careful not to elevate a mere man to a higher place than he deserves, or belongs. But, I would certainly walk 4 thousand miles if my faith and salvation depended on it. That's quite a different matter than walking to boost someone's ego.

Nope. I used to go on such pilgrimages, by car, not by walking. But have come to the conclusion that evangelists know less about God than many people in my neighborhood. They just happen to be great orators or entertainers. They don't have anything to do with God. I can get goosebumps from listening to Led Zeppelin just as well as I get them from hearing a gospel band sing about the love of God, or an evangelist telling me that the presence of God is descending on the audience. It is all just an emotional response.

If there were not cars or planes or trains and the evangelist was one that I knew spoke the only word of God, then yes! I would leave a week before his speech to make sure I got there in time.
If God or hearing his word is important to anyone then they should do whatever it takes to hear it.
