I had a HIDA scan done on my gallbladder. I had one last year and the nurse called and told me that it was working at 22% and I did not have gallstones. They suggested I have it removed, but I wanted to try digestive enzymes first. I am still having problems, so I had a second HIDA scan done last week. I called the office and spoke with the nurse and she would not tell me the results over the phone. She said the doctor wanted me to make an appointment to discuss the results. I am freaking out. Why would they tell me via telephone last year but want me to make an appointment this time? Has this ever happened to you? Were the results good or bad?

Try not to freak out*......You've already said your gallbladder is acting up...you're still having problems...last year they had suggested for you to have your gallbladder out...you chose not to , but to try the digestive enzymes first....The doctor probably wants to see you in person to discuss the results and your options. Perhaps this time you have stones* I've had my gallbladder out...and feel so much better now. I happened to have 12stones when they removed mine. Anytime a doctor calls you to his office to discuss results...it is a normal response to "freak out"....You're scared of what willl be said. But..think of it this way...at least you'll be getting the answers you've been pondering over for quite some time as to what is going on with your gall bladder/insides etc. At least you'l have options that you'll be able to correct the problem and start feeling so much better. Think Positively not thinking of the worst. Be gratefull its not stomach cancer or something along those lines. A gallbladder being removed is "surgery...yes" but it's something that will make you feel better and is not a long recovery these days. Years ago they did the operation so much more intense...now a days it's so much easier and a much faster process in healing. Make the appt and go talk with your doctor. GodBless and Stay Strong* GoodLuck to You*

Try not to panic. Stress can aggravate your gallbladder problem. If they suggested you have your gallbladder removed before and you are still having problems, I am almost sure they simply want to renew that suggestion. I had my gallbladder out in 2005. It was done laparoscopically, which means I have 4 little scars from incisions on my abdomen that barely show. There was very little pain involved and I was back to work in just a week or two. My scan showed mine to be working only at 12% before surgery. Just talk to your doctor. He's not going to force you into anything. It's not a life or death problem, but you may find that by having the surgery, you will get rid of a lot of digestive problems. Just keep an open mind.

truthfully the results were probably worse then last year and the doctor wants to tell you in person and then explain the options and what the procedures are etc.

It could also be that office procedures changed and they cant release the information over the phone. My doctors office is like that. Only the doctor can state the information over the phone and 90% of the time he prefers I come into the office.

over all its not something to be overly concerned about.

the nurse that gave you information over the phone last year should not have done so.legally it is the physcian that should do so.also because of the initiation of hippa laws which are a pts right to privacy things have changed cosiderably.there is no assurance that the person you are talking to on the phone is the actual pt.it is in your best interest. dont panic just make an appt and see your dr.he probably just wants to discuss your problem with you.
