I live in Melbourne, and o paid $1.18 a litre yesterday, last week i paid $1.25 P/L, it is expected to go up to like $1.40 p/l over the easter long weekend. But, yeah, here in Melb, the price is seriously high and is going up and down all the time. and service stations are ripping us off, by closing the pumps while the price is low and re opening them as soon as the price goes up. it goes up every wednesday, and goes down on a sunday usually

At the moment - here in southern New South Wales - on an average, it is about AUD$1.25 a litre which is about AUD$4.7 a gallon.
And YES! The price can fluctuate daily! grrr.
(amazing how people just don't read. The question is in Australia section. The two previous answers must think Australia is part of the USA. Well... that's debateable too, the way Australia is heading)

It's been around $1.30 per litre in Canberra for a while. Goes up on Fridays, comes down on Tuesdays, goes up on government worker payday, 4 cents a litre cheaper at some supermarket linked filling stations if you produce evidence you have spent at least $30 on groceries recently. AU$1.00 = US 78 to 80 cents usually.

In adelaide today was $1.19 due to go up later today for easter weekend the here usually goes up on a wednesday anyway ready for the weekend and starts coming down over the weekend but this weekend it wont start going down till bout monday as its easter.

Today its $1.26 what a rip off!! And yes it goes up and down everyday!! and since its the easter weekend it seem to jump up at least 10cents.

today $1.12 on the Gold Coast but it does fluctaute, cheap days are mon - wed, this weekend being holiday it will probably rise to about $1.18+
