when clearly our world is a dangerous, fearful place to live precisely because of the acts of religious zealots on and after Sept. 11, 2001.

People are conditioned weekly to believe that religion is a good wholesome thing.

Keep in mind that these same people believe that a deity that murdered millions of people throughout the Old Testament and the Quran is a being of Love.

Anything, religion included, can be used for good - or evil.

What I find disturbing is the number of people who continually take the actions of a few, or a small sect, and apply their behaviors to the masses.

Most individuals who are religious do not kill people or go around causing terror and mayhem and spread hatred. Period.

Don't generalize.

The world was a fearful place to live before September 11, 2001. It always has been, and probably always will be. The people of Iraq are living in a fearful place right now - and that's over oil and politics, not religion.

People say that religion is a positive force because they separate the stated intentions and above board actions of religious people from the acts of radical zealots who commit terrorist acts and persecute other people supposedly in the name of their religion.

It's like the saying "Don't throw out the baby with the bath water".

When you look at the Christians who go around the world building schools and hospitals and feeding the poor and taking in orphans you see the positive side. When you look at people who have changed lives, who have been rescued from drugs and alcohol, who now have eternal hope and who turn from doing evil to start doing good you see the positive side. But those types of stories don't make the headlines like blowing up the twin towers does.

Like in Star Wars there is the side of the Jedi and the dark side. In this world there is God and Satan. Not to mention the politically correct side. Politically correct side looks at both and wants to compromise in between so the majority can do what they want. Do you really think that they acted Godly ( religious zealots) or unGodly. If an Un Godly person says he is of God and his deeds are clearly not, and even the UnGodly see that ,then why classify the Godly as all hypocrites and perverse fools.

They don't see it as a positive force for the world until everyone accepts their way. They only see it as a positive force for themselves, and until the world accepts their religion as their own they will make this earth miserable & cause wars over nothing just to prove that their religion is the better one. It's hypocritical because they "preach" peace & love, but they practice hate and intolerance. It's all backwards.

The only way this world will achieve peace is if all cultures remove religion completely from their lives. Unfortunately, that probably won't happen for many many lifetimes so we will probably not be around to see it. It's a shame. The human race would be capable of so many great things if they would just let go of this ancient practice.

That was an act by a small number of fanatics from a particular religion. Don't confuse that with all religion.
While I don't believe that religion is nearly as positive a force as it could be, it does provide some hope and sustenance for many poor people.

i was raised roman catholic and through my life have opted to not be religious at all. with that being said, religion is not the problem. the problem is the radicals that read far beyond what is written and force their beliefs onto others. it's not only the muslims that praise allah that are problematic. i happen to think some of the evangelistic radicals are just as bad. they may not strap a bomb to themselves for god, but they are violent still.

i just think people need to sit back and relax. people are too worried about what others believe or dont believe in. i personally dont care who anyone believes in or if they even associate themselves with any religion.

The acts of 9/11 were not done by religion, but by people with a strong greed for power. The portion of religion comes in by them covering it up so that people of their religion may rally behind their evil actions.

ahhahahhaha....religious zealots on 9/11? which ones would that be? oh, the ones in an afgan cave?? hahahahaha.

Why do people insisst on being ignorant to the obvious facts about 9/11.

you sound like you "faithfully" believe all the government hype about 9/11.

you should start your own religion sounds like.
