I live in central scotland so anywhere in Scotland, pretty much, would be a good place to go. The closer to Glasgow the better so I can pick her up and scoot her away for the weekend.

When I visited the arean I stayed at the Old School House by Loch Lomond - I've included the weblink below.

We had a lovely welcome and the breakfast was excellent - really had a nice stay there.

We went on a walking tour round Loch Lomond and also visited Stirling, plus went through to Oban and Fort William.

Hope when you go, you have a great time.

If you want to be fairly close to Glasgow I'd have thought that somewhere in the Trossachs or alongside Loch Lomond would be suitable. As you'll know, these are popular tourist areas and if you're planning on going away this weekend you may find everywhere is booked up.

Perhaps consider heading up to the Highlands, from Glasgow it's an easy drive up the A82 and, provided there are no delays, you can be in Fort William in under 2 hours.

There's some good places en-route including some nice country house hotels around Glencoe. The King's House on Rannoch Moor is good, it's wild and remote but if you like the outdoors it's a great location with excellent views over the Buachaille. There's places in and around Ballachulish including the Ballachulish Hotel on the Oban road just outside Ballachulish and the Loch Leven Hotel just across the bridge heading north.

There's no shortage of places in and around Fort William but the only one I've stayed at is the Croit Anna which isn't bad.
